I fixed the bug and now you don't need the hex editor. But unfortunately this version does not accept the previous version's record. Knowing that AI can change production without suffering shield penalty, I removed the shield part and used one space for restoring a flag -- only when this flag is available can the program restore production queue. This will make the utility a very safe one, but will also cause records in version 1 not retrievable. Since version 1 is not working properly anyway, this should not be a big loss.

Thanks for helping us (me) making PBEM more fun Xin Yu !! :)

Question, does lazyciv2 support multiple games ?

meaning if i have two or three games going, will it still work ?

i really need to know..

It should from what I understand. Lazyciv records what it needs to know in the city names and not in the exe file.

you need to have more than one copy. I don't think you need to keep the name lazyciv so just rename them to the name of your game.

eh, not really. Lazyciv is a memory-accessing program (that's why it would warn you when civ 2 MPE is not running when you start it, because it couldn't find the memory address to read from and write to). The information is not recorded in the program itself, but in the memory when you play civ2. When you save a game, the information is written to the saved game as well. Hence, you only need one copy of Lazyciv.

Lazyciv 2 doesnt work !

Here is what i did:

1. Loaded save game (since we had allready played for some time)

2. Near the end of the round i loeaded Lazyciv 2

3. Had one unit left moving , Pressed Ctrl-N and saved

4. Closed Lazyciv2

5. When it was my turn again, i loaded the savegame.

6. Where i should pick my gender, i loaded Lazyciv2.

7. Chose Gender and Name, and the AI had changed the production. :(

Edited.

Checked your ZWK game. Both in your first turn saved file and in the file before your second turn there were NOTHING recorded by lazyciv. Hence, natually on turn two there was nothing to recover. Also checked other civs' cities. No civ has used lazyciv since none of the cities for any civ were recorded. Did you check if long city names change to strange symbols?

I have two machines, one running winME another winNT 4.0, the program works under both so under which windows system is irrelevant (I hope).

The saves..

Number 10 is the savegame, and 12 is the one where the Ai has changed the production.

SAS, I already downloaded them. See my previous post (I have edited them to save space)

No changed citynames that i could see. How many letters are max? There is one Russian city named : Dnepropetrovsk

It hasnt changed though...

And i'm positive i used Lazyciv2 and in the order described above.

15 is the max length. Only your city names will change if they are longer than 13.

I downloaded from the ZWK thread so I think I have this one. Sorry no information was recorded.

This is really weird. I'm allso playing another game with Lazy2. Can you take a look at that one ?

I will dowload it again.

I'm using WinME, Lazyciv2 installed in the D: drive (in the
same dir as the scenario and savegame).

I also tried Lazyciv in a test ZWK game and it didn't work for me either. I've got Win98 and LazCiv wasn't in the same directory as the game and scenario. I tried renaming one of the cities and it didn't record anything over the end of the name.

Looks like none of your cities' production queues were recorded. It must be that the memory address for the start of city information was different. Unfortunately I cannot run civ2 on your machine so I don't know what addresses you have. Maybe you have an older machine which doesn't have as big a memory size as mine (128M)? Or could it be that you have a different version of MPE?
