Left mouse button does not work

Currently, the left mouse button is not working properly and does not respond. I have repeadely clicked on it and it still does not respond.

I am forced to use the mouse buttons on my touch pad on my laptop. Is there a way to fix this?

Edit: When I took the cover off and poked the stud with a paper clip. It works.

I had a similar problem with my 4 year old mouse. I had a fantastic solution to the problem.

I bought a new one.

I personally love the Microsoft Explorer 3.0 - way better than the new 4.0 model. Just love the form, and even if people insist on 800 dpi sensor resolution, I get along better with it than any Logitech MX-series mouse.
