Legalise Cannabis?

Well Mr. Bond!!! I have tried it a few times but I don't smoke it anymore - mostly because I didn't really get high or anything from the few times I tried it, and because it isn't funny to have a few people at a party smoke weed, they get rather strange....

No I have several friends and they usually have a small get together and smoke some and they are having a great time, because everybody smokes some!!!

So the conclusion is, that I haven't smoked for years and never while playing Civ, but I have been drunk while playing GotM several times..

No wait we are species 5618 and we got beer...... don't harm us!!!!!!

Private use of mj isn't exactly cracked down on real hard here in the US. The people that grow and smoke their own will probably never face any problems. What does causes problems is the sellers. The ones that sell to kids and use violence to make sure that their competition stays out of their way. Drugs create violence, because selling them means big profits for low lifes.

I'm all for legalizing. Taking in moderation, its not more harmful than cigs or alcohol, which are both legal. It would be for private use only, and smoking in public places should still be prohibited. Just as having an open alcohol container is in most states.

But when it all comes down to it? Geez, I guess I really don't care all that much. Definetly not a cause I'd fight for.

All drugs whatsoever should be legalized. If someone will be so stupid that he uses drugs,
it'll be 100% correct to him when he dies to it. And don't say hasis&mari don't kill people,
I will not care.

I will just listen my own philosophy: The only reason why drugs are not legalized in
the US is that Goverment wants to have a monopoly on selling drugs from columbia.
They destroy it sometimes to make it harder to buy, and get bigger profits
(East Indian & Co. trade policy).
Just think about that.

If you legalized all drugs, stupid drugs would be easily accessable to all high school idiots looking for a "rave" or whatever.

Yes, and thats the reason why education level should be radically raised.
And parents should take care of their children. Were living in a society that
tries to believe to woman that u can be in work and take care of your kids sametime.
That is impossible. Kid needs attention 24h/day. This is an very important point.

Simon -
No. Have gone through this before, but it is a gateway drug, and screws people up in too many ways to mention. I will be interested to see what arguments are raised in favour of the proposition, and then I will speak again.

I played many sports in my life, if basketball was my first sport, does that make basketball a "gateway" sport? Of course not! I'd like for any of you people who claim that "gateway drugs" induce the use of other drugs to actually prove the claim. Who has ever proven that some chemical in pot tells the brain to like another drug - e.g., cocaine - it has never experienced? And no, claiming that someone who used pot before using cocaine means pot is a "gateway drug" is just as ridiculous as claiming basketball is a gateway sport. Why would a pot user or basketball player go on to "experiment" with other drugs or sports? It's called HUMAN NATURE! A sports fanatic is more likely to rock climb than a "computer nerd/bookworm". Why? It's in the sports fanatic's nature to experiment with new sports just as it is in the nature of a drug user to experiment with other drugs.

As for my arguments in favor of legalizing any and all drugs, check the thread about legalizing all drugs. In short, the drug war is immoral for obvious reasons...
