There are just some civ that are not too appealing on me, so I never played them at all.

Vanilla:

Gandhi, I think i only play twice as Gandhi just curious how does happiness and unhappiness trait works.

Gods n Kings:
Pacal: I never play this one. IDK maybe this civ is just too boring for me.
William: Played once, just want to try the polder and the UU
Atilla: played 2 or 3 times only.

Brave New World:
Ashurbanipal: played 2 i think, never finished it.
Enrico: never, not interested with OCC type UA
Maria(the Portuguese): IDK but im not too excited with Civs who got no land UUs.
EDIT: I forget Shoshone: IDK but i just don't like that civ.

Am I the only one who never played certain civs?

For me it's mainly India, Venice, and Ethiopia. India has a bad UA, but I like playing them on Communitas (A waaay better UA). Like you, I don't really like OCC with Venice, and I've had some bad luck playing as him in the past. I am at rage with Ethiopia right now due to their huge bloody war they had with me that made me about fall, but that will probably change soon. :)

Never really play the celts because they suck imo with a non fun UA that isn't very useful either plus boring UB and UU that are too late and too early respectively.

I really need to start branching out a little more, because this is my list of never-played civs :crazyeye::

America
Austria
Aztecs
Carthage
China
Denmark
England
Germany
Huns
India
Iroquois
Mongolia
Morocco
Russia
Shoshone
Spain
Venice
Zulu

I purposefully try to mix up which civs I play as, but I know I play the Vanilla and Warmongering civs less so than others. That said, I've played every civ except Greece. I like being able to say "I haven't played as only one civ for no reason in particular."

wow, that is a LOT :)

Never India because the UA turned me off.
I used to think Maya is lame, but after i tried it, it basically can win anything and can easily pick up after u botch some parts of the game. I used it to found a religion quickly, it has the top science for me in the game, and its culture isnt far off too. Not to mention now i have the 2nd largest army after the Zulus.

Other civ i will never play are: dutch, Denmark and Assyria because they are weaker.
Strange though, i think USA is actually strong because in all my games, the AI USA always end up having the largest science, sometimes army and mostly economy.

I've tried every civ available to me and while most don't agree with my style of play. India, Maya, The Aztecs and Mongolia always stood out and helped me achieve some good victories.

I've never bothered with playing a variety of civs: it's always been Rome since I started with Civ2.

I've only played games as:
Germany (95% of the time)
Japan
England
America
Poland
Ethiopia

That 500 hours

I find myself rarely playing the Vanilla Civs or Civs with early UUs. Greece, Rome, America, Huns, Danes, etc. I like some war, but I hate not having an alternate route.

Interestingly enough, one of the best BNW games I've had was as India. I was playing culturally, starting off going tall and peaceful. Once ideologies kicked in, I went full Autocracy and destroyed everything. Because I had decent tourism spread, the cities I took had more pop than usual, which didn't matter because of the UA. I had something like 85 happiness and had about 17 cities.

Not really a OCC, you can still purchase CS, puppet other civ's cities and make a decent empire. It's a different playstyle but it's actually funny. Venice became one of my favorite civ.

I never tried Shoshones.

I've never played as
America
Venice
Indonesia
Songhai
Japan
India
Aztecs
Greece
Siam
Mongolia
Sweden

I know this is bad so I've started putting my civs on random in settings. Got Ethiopia and I'm currently playing a really fun religion/culture game. :)

Arabia
Assyria
Aztecs
Babylon
Brazil
Byzantium
Carthago
Celts
China
Denmark
Egypt
Ethiopia
France
Greece
Inca
India
Indonesia
Japan
Korea
Mongolia
Morocco
Ottoman
Persia
Poland
Polynesia
Portugal
Russia
Shoshone
Siam
Songhai
Sweden
Venice
Zulu

Very big list

Here's my list of civs I've never gotten more than 100 turns into a game with

Assyria
Byzantium
Carthage
Denmark
Korea
Maya
Mongolia
Netherlands
Polynesia
Songhai
Sweden
Zulu

I'm actually surprised this list isn't longer. You can probably guess that I'm not a fan of warmongering.

It's really dumb but the more people laud a civ for how great it is, the less and less interested I am in playing it. That makes my list of rarely played civs look really weird.

Korea
Babylon
Siam
Arabia
Venice
Inca
Ethiopia
Greece
America

I've never played the Zulus.

There is a very long list of civs I've only played once. I've often not had much time to play Civ V and so I barely got thru the last of the G&K civs before BNW was released.

I'm currently giving Greece another try; the last time I'd played them was back in Vanilla. I was going to shoot for the Dark Horse achievement; however I got off to a slow start due to all luxuries near me being ones that required both Calendar & Bronze Working to clear.
In addition a city state killed the fourth city; Austria would have liked this start better since it could just marry that city state for the 4th city. Venice would also be better as well.

There are only three civs that I never ever played with: Assyria, The Huns and The Zulus. I'm not very prone to warmongering, as you may have noticed.

I've been trying a lot of civs for the first time lately, thats why my never-list is so little. I've had some fun playing with India, Iroquois and Persia, but I ended up not finishing any of these games.

The other least played civs in my list are:
America
Siam
Austria
Denmark
Mongolia
Polynesia
Songhai

Must have been a fan of the fall patch, eh?

Eh, I play on lower difficulties so I can just abuse the ******** AI, and once I'm two or three eras ahead of everyone (and have nukes and the WC), I just DOW everyone and take everything with my 10 unit military :D

I've gotten very proficient at this :mischief:
