Let's compare empires!

Modern age, my empire is quite urban by now and I am getting new specialists every few turns. Going swimmingly. :)

Here's Greece, end of ancient era:

... with another settlement out of view down south. pulled a science & econ win in Antiquity, took the science golden age to power an era of expansion as Spain:

(with a couple more island settlements, not pictured)

was going for Econ victory in exploration age. alas, I was able to achieve a mil victory on the way there, but fell just short of the destination by the time the age wrapped

Looks so good! :D

This was my very first game of civ 7 yesturday, I played as Emperor Napoleon, Rome -> Normans -> France ; (Standard Speed, whatever difficulty is the new prince, Terra Incognita) I was so glad I was able to get the Total Domination Victory (the game gives you the same screen as if you completed operation ivy)... Im still struggling to find out why negative happiness is a bad thing, like I never had a city flip and I just finished another similar conquest game as Frederick, Baroque with 33/23 cities and I haven't had a city flip once...

Impressive! Flipping is only in some crisises, but going over severely cripples your yields like production.

Mmmmm interesting, I was still producing stuff pretty quickly (no real frame of reference yet)... I was buying a lot of stuff tho... I'll have to play a game where I actually obey the city limit and see the difference...

In my game as Mongols I was at 16/11 settlements at one point and then my capital produced well (so perhaps it doesn't affect it?) but my other cities more than halved their production capacity.

My capital, a largely desert uluru+petra city is by far my highest source of gold and culture. It's got a few resources slotted into it:

(For reference, jade is +15% gold, gloves is another +10%.)
The gold output in distant lands is also supplemented by this town in particular, with four furs (and two more yet to be improved). At the moment, through a few other towns and trading, I have 9 furs. (Again, for reference, furs provide +10% gold to the capital during a celebration.)
TLDR: I'm doing very well economically!

As for treasure fleets I have two towns with three treasure resources each. The first is conveniently close to my capital, the second is unfortunately not so easily accessible. Trung trac (cyan) and Isabella (orange) are mortal enemies and won't let me through that way, so to get to a homeland city treasure fleets need to go through the very cool strait with two volcanoes and all the way round as I've doodled on the map, a journey which takes 20 turns iirc. Also note how geometric some continents are on the map haha

Other notable parts of my empire include my former capital of Aksum, a fishing town I'm constantly debating whether to let grow more or focus on exporting food, and a farming town I settled specifically because of its scenic location :P

game as Ibn Battuta - finished Antiquity (Aksum) and Exploration (Songhai)

Managed to get science and economic golden age in exploration- viceroy difficulty

Tomorrow going for Buganda for cultural victory or economic victory

The core of my empire in a Rome -> Hawaii -> Russia culture game. Ostia was a city in previous ages but wasn't performing as well late in exploration so my other cities are in the distant lands. Hawaii's tradition that adds culture to marine tiles is really strong in archipelago maps.

Played Rome > Mongol with Xerxes (King of Kings) so far, all standard, Sovereign difficulty. Just finished exploration age, here's my empire so far, at the end of the age

Since the game is basically over already halfway through this age, so I was instead challenging myself to get as many legacy paths as possible. I was quite pleased to be able to orchestrate getting the final milestone of all 4 paths on a single turn.
  • The treasure fleets can be stockpiled and not used yet, so that's not a problem at all.
  • The science one, I was keeping it at 4/5 cities, with 1 city that is 1 specialist away from hitting the 40 yield in 1 tile, and I kept 1 building that can be bought on a rural tile, allowing me to allocate that extra specialist any time I want.
  • The culture one was more tricky, in that I needed to dodge some relics earlier and get a ton of them in the same turn later on, to avoid pushing the age counter too early and give more time for the other paths. My reliquary belief was +2 relics for first time conversion of capital city. So I pre-positioned 2 missionaries in each enemy city, which I have broken down all the districts and killed all defenders first. Then on this final turn, I first convert the current capital, capture it. The capital move elsewhere, convert it, and capture it again. Rinse and repeat until I got enough relics in 1 turn to shoot up from 5 to 13 (I have captured their old capital and holy city some time ago, so all of them can be converted)
  • The military one obviously got done at the same time as the culture one. As the Mongol, it was a surprise that I didn't get extra points for conquered settlements in the new world. So I needed to conquer 12 in total, but that ended up being what made this whole thing possible, because otherwise there is no way I could have balanced getting enough cities for a reasonable treasure fleets rate vs hitting the final military milestone too early and advancing the age counter too fast.
I think with the long age setting that every youtuber is recommending, I would not have to jump through so much hoops, but this was quite satisfying to pull off haha

I'm aiming to finish off these two remaining AIs for a domination victory in the modern age

I never thought I'd see the day I did well on Immortal...! :o

Here is my former Greek capital (now Spain) during Exploration. I'm finding Isabella to be quite strong, especially with her early game bonus for gold for discovering natural wonders and her spawn which essentially guarantees early game natural wonders.

I love how the Greek unique district looks among all the wonders. It adds height and dimension to the city in a really visually pleasing way.
