Let's do lunch, sire!

Yeah, I really love those advisors!
It made to whole game alive so much more.

I really do hope they'll return for Civ 5 or something :)

It also gave you a nice sense of which era you were in :)

Since we're setting the way-back machine for 1995 today, does anyone recall the "Wishlist for Civilization II" (or, it may actually have been called Civilization 2000,) that a bunch of die-hards were circulating around the Internets -- back before anyone even knew that there was going to be a Civilization II? I tried doing a google search, but couldn't find it. It had a lot of ideas, some that eventually ended up in the franchise, and others that just didn't (like refugees...although there was a variant of that in SMAX, IIRC.)

And what you're all forgetting is that after ten games you never watched them, because you knew exactly what they were going to say.
Maybe you only watched them for 10 games. I problably watched them for 50ish. Then turned them off for a few hundred games. Then turned them on for the next few hundred games, until I lost my CD. (Yes, I really played that many civ2 games :crazyeye:)

"Our spy network tell us that other nations hold us in the highest regard sir. I await your further instructions." Or something like that. I remember her once saying this when we were at war with half the civs and the other half hated us

I don't think firaxis will ever (re)make a council. If anyone does it it'll problably have to be a mod, but what are the chances of that? (I'm not making one, I don't miss them THAT much :P)

In Civ 5 the animated leaderheads should be replaced by actors in suits with voice-clips just as the Civ 2 council. That would be awesome...

While we are strolling down memory lane, does anybody else miss the govt/civic based graphic changes to leader heads? I always got a kick out of modern republican Shaka wearing his bowler! :) With the current animated leader heads and multiple civic based system it would be very difficult to implement these days, but a guy can always hope.

Another "flavor" feature I miss is the sight of your armies marching through the streets of newly conquered towns! The troops updated as you progressed through the eras as I recall. This one they could bring back easily enough if they were so inclined.

Yeah, your Civ's music playing and the army marching on the foreground of city view. I liked that.

I liked that feature as well. It was in right off the bat from Civ1. They also showed a similar screen when buildings were completed with the building appearing [although now we get to see the buildings in our cities which is even better]
