Let's Play Civ IV - Tokugawa

Awesome. I've been hoping for another one!

Thanks for your games. I've watched all of them during my Civ4 time. Still remember that isolation game with Peter where you lost your seafoods to a barb galley in rifle/cannon era. :D

You're like a BBC Essential Mix for Civ4, the fine marshmallow peeps are rocking out to your games. Thanks for the great games and posts, TMIT.

I've just got through the first 6 clips, But was wondering why you didn't move the palace to the gems city.

If we hadn't seen the random launch I'd have thought you deliberately chose the AIs to make telling borders apart impossible:lol:

Red, Red, Light Orange and Dark Orange - seriously:crazyeye:

I don't mean to be a grammar Nazi or anything but in the beginning when you say pangea the "g" should be said as in geology and not like in gear.

I didn't think of it. I'm getting a lot more natural while recording vs my civ play, but in addition to the fact that I'm not a perfect player regardless, the added dynamic of thinking about what I'm saying and watching the time isn't insignificant...if you don't believe me try it ;).

I've heard over and over again that all you need is 6 good cities to win the game, but it was really good to see it in action. I've watched all the Let's Plays you've but up so far, but I think this has been the most helpful one for me.

And thank you for putting the effort into this, it's more helpful than you might know. :)

Hurrahh, more TMITV :D

Keep 'em on the UTube as long as possible as I'm away on Biz and won't be able to catch up until summer.

Cheers.

Also wondering why you built the mids and ran rep but hardly ran many specialists. (never ran caste)
Am I missing something?

I ran a healthy chunk in the capitol. Mids was pursued late with stone and allowed me to skip building monarchy garrison and deny it to the AI. I ran into other concerns eventually.

Just finished watching, nice game which showcased a lot of ways I could improve the efficiency of my play. Also, I've realised that I'm far too obsessed with my techrate compared to the AIs, need to learn to focus on military only at times.

It was really getting to me how you didn't use those two GEs though! Should have rushed West Point ;)

I noticed that too. I think he calls it "Pan-Gaia", which would still make sense.

Great game, solid strategy. With that amount of military, and still winning lib, you were never in any real danger. 6 cities needed, and they don't all have to be any good.

Play to your strengths, and master the diplo and meta game!

Bah. I was holding out for a golden age, but by that point I knew I'd won regardless...really the instant gandhi capped it was over, and things were looking good long before that ;).

You settled many GGs in the Gems city, but none in Kyoto. If you're drafting there every turn, 1xp more for all those units would be enough reason for me to settle at least half my GGs there. I was wondering why you didn't.

I preferred the 2 xp bonus in the heroic epic city. Late game that was getting me CR III siege, which IMO is more valuable than an extra promo on a draftee...after three settled GGs.
