Now I've wondered this for a while... when you get a unit to lvl 12 the 100/109 exp needed to grow to lvl 13... how does one get that... every barbarian unit I've killed so far has given no exp to my unit... do I have to kill a more powerful unit now to get it to lvl up is all I am wondering... and hi folks... for those of you who remember me

Barbarian units only get you up to 100 exp. To get higher, you need to kill non-barbarian units (i.e. other players).
Note: using a great commander, the raider trait or the valor spell will still allow you to get little amounts of exp from barbarians

Yeah, using those only get you 1XP per barbarian kill. It doesn't matter how powerful the barb unit is. Kill Orthus, Buboes, or Acheron and you get only 1XP. I would like to see more XP given for killing barb heroes and maybe even Tier IV barb units which show up later in the game.
