Lights, camera, blender (?)

Just don't do a "J.J. Abrams" (adding lens-flares to every light source until you can't see anything but lens flares)

Hm, what do you think of this (rough draft/it also has some incongruous shading of areas because it was a gif made by layers) regarding style/mood? :)

The perspective of the bedroom is... odd. My eyes keep trying to correct for the discrepancy but failing. It looks like the perspective for 75% of the room is fine but then warps away at the top right. Is that intentional?

It's just not a perfectly rectangular room.

Looks good to me, although I have to say the dark spot below the lamp is way too extreme for me. The effect makes sense for top-mounted lights, but it's just such a strong contrast, especially with two walls right next to it that would create bounce-light.

As Ryika said, the room is not rectangular (if you mean that) :)

It is the same kind of light source as in the bedroom, but with two differences: in the hall there are 8 small lamps (instead of a large one in the bedroom), and in the hall the bottom part of what is holding the lamp doesn't allow the orb to direct light directly below it, while in the bedroom it is more or less a spherical lamp which only is covered from above.
That said, i don't much like the effect either :D

The not perfectly rectangular room creates some sense of unease. Was that intentional?

Well, it is a horror game  Something is always crooked. It was intuitive, though, if you mean that :)

The game (adventure) is adapted from a short story of mine, titled "The Ceremony". Notice the upper wall of the hall, it is a skylight, with view to the inner (hollow) part of the building. It is where the occupant of the house fell to his death. Suicide. :)

I met a guy once who had a gas power blender made out of a chain saw motor that he carried around in his truck. Margaritas in the desert, boat drinks on the beach...he was ready. Effing hero.

I did not. I recognise him now as J.L.Borges though.

No, but I have almost no exposure either to Spanish or Spanish literature.
