LK pick a game.

The current ideas are:
True Russian Communist - The game will be modified to have all civs start with Communism. The other civs can find representative governments and go there. We can't ever stop being Commies. Having to depend on pop-rushing the whole game won't be fun.
This will be a deity game!

Deity 5cc - Ottomans or Germany (I want a good power unit!)

Small world deity - Nothing special, but I have never attempted deity on a small world.

Believe it or not, I don't have to many variant ideas at the moment.

This game will start August 3 / 4 after my vacation.
I will have limited board access, but certainly no time to play any civ

One variant that I've been wanting to try out is what I term "Powermonger's Delight". This would be:

* Deity level, except AI cost factor is now 40% instead of 60%. That means that the AI grows and builds things 50% faster than on Deity.

* We get all 6 civ traits, and the matching starting techs.

* Possible other extra stuff for us: extra gold; a free army at start; a free leader at start.

This would be a game where both the AI's and us are on serious steroids.

I have no idea how this would play out in practice -- maybe I should try this solo first and see how it goes.

That would be some exteremely brutal AI to beat. Giving the AI a 50% bonus has proven to be nasty.

I am not up to trying something that rough at the moment.

Dark Savant - you sound like you want to try that little checkbox in the game options screen labeled "Accelerated Production".

I haven't played with Sirian in quite some time; not since the legendary RBE2, I believe, which was almost a year ago now. If he'll have me, I'll join in for the small map Deity game - RBE2 redux . The Communism game also sounds interesting if you pick that one.

It's been a while since LK45, 48 and RBP10 all hit the industrial age with wars at the same time causing sever SG burn out.

I will be your fifth for the small map if you'll have me.

Game type is decided - Small world deity.

Heading on the road in a couple of hours, but let's start the debate:
Any preferences on Civs - please state why.

Depending if I hit a gap, I may be able to start before Aug 3. That is conditional upon the Civ being decided.

My preferences for civs are only negatives.

No to Russia/America/China as those were my last three games. No to vikings as that is the current GOTM. Also like to pass on Romans since I played them with HotRod and LK the last time we played "together" (LK33 way back).

While Industrious and Commercial are my favorite traits with Scientific a close third, I usually just get a random Civ and play their traits and UU as best I can. Not adverse to play with a crappy UU. Would rather avoid a dominating one like Sipahi.

Well I will throw out one negative - Viking.

Just did them in LK50, and they are the GOTM civ. To much repeat factor if the Vikings again.

I would like to play a Religious/Military combo - either Celts or Japan I think fit the bill.

Played a lot of commercial and industrious games lately. Militaristic is a nice change.

All that being said perhaps a completely Random game would be interesting.

Samurai would be fun, Gaelic Swords are just too expensive.

I love the random idea with enough room for LK to try again if the vikings (or Russia ) come up. Not knowing the map type/barb type would be a fun challenge too.
