LK26 - World Map

Lee, there were 6 settlers ready to go in Egypt and more waiting in India. The only arty in SA should have been outside of the Egyptian city I captured on the last turn. There were some troops caught in north Aztec lands (I was using the RoP to get ready for the Americans). I was using these to pillage. I think there was one or two arty pieces up there, but they may have gotten captured on the initial Azxtec attack.
ON the espionage, you have to believe that one of the parts they are building is in Washington itself and the rest are in the surounding cities. It may be worth a shot the hit it blind.
I didn't think about it, but maybe if you use the marines to pillage the production around Washington and New York, we could slow them down long enough to let the marines, eh, MA get there.

On the settler issue - I got confused by your comment that the babs beat you to a city site.
It sounded like you had no settlers.

==========================
@Jersey Joe
Well the first turn went well :goodjob:
3 cities in SA is more powerfull then it first sounds. Once we can clean up SA, we can swing 100% into Mexico.
We can also choke point 100% of the Aztec / American troops in Mexico.

On the alliance with Iroquois issue - can we give them dollars per turn? Even several hundred per turn will be worth it.
I think we lose the game without an alliance with the Iroqoius.
At best you will be half way into Mexico. We have the sheer time factor against us.

I wonder if Meldor has a good idea, take the stack at the north of the Aztec territory and pillage like crazy.

===========================
@All
On the issues of France - I agree Paris must burn. This also has an added benefit - destroying the UN.
The bad part - we will lose our source of wines.
That Egypt city on Crete looks tasty, as it has wines.

On the resource issues - don't forget about Aluminum.
Can we start denying that to the world?
That would truely end the space race.

I spent some gold and looked at Washington. Washinton was building a battleship. Washington is another citiy with the Iron Works. If I could have attacked Washington last turn, I might have taken it since it is mostly defended by Pikemen.
As a side note, we still have Chinese resisters in a few of our cities.

Re: Settlers.

I guess I didn't make it clear enough. The town they settled was at the edge of their culture border. I wanted to put the settler at the choke point between Africa and Mid East. I had just razed Alexandria and needed two turns to get settler into Egyptian culture in position. The Babys beat me by one turn. In hindsight I wold have founded the city one square over and beat them, but I didn't expect them to build it inside their own culture border.

I am going to have a source of incense hooked up in 2 turns to replace the wines.
Also I intend to use 1 of our settlers to build on wines in French territory. America has 2 sources of Aluminium in the Rockies. I was going to pillage that if the troops can survive to get there. When I looked at the Washington screen it only showed 1 source of Aluminium so they must be trading it away.

As of last turn America did not have rubber, that means their best offensive ground unit is cavalry and their best defensive ground unit is a rifleman. So I might have a chance to deny them resources.

Pillage away JJ!
If they ignore our troops, destroying the Aluminum sources would be valueable. The question is - what town to destroy? Of course, if you do spot a rifleman city on the way - destroy it.

Incense source [party] - The longer we can stay in Republic the better, I already know I plan to cash rush like crazy.

If your next 9 turns can secure all of SA, and move into Mexico we are still in the game.

We might also consider moving the capital a little to the nothwest to make more of asia productive. The mod seems to make the distance a lot farther and we should take full advantage. How far could we move it and still leave lower Aussie cities productive? Of course this would be done best by leader rush!

Wow! This game is moving on nicely I see. ;)

Too bad I have to miss all the fun. :( I am still in Shanghai and I should be back this Saturday (I am checking the forum from my Shanghai Office :p ). So if my turn is up on Saturday then I won't be skipping. :)

@Meldor : If the corruption is set at 75% and/or Optimum number of cities is increased then the distant can be increased by quite alot. For a game that I use to test my own mod, I set corruption to 75% and ONC at 80 and with the empire span across half of a huge map (180 x 180) I still don't need a FP (even though the advisor keep nagging for one. )

1705AD continued
(I) France signs an alliance with Egypt vs Zululand. France is at war with Zulus. America signs several alliance with Egypt and declares war on a few more counties.
Our small force in NA is bombed by both America and Aztec. Amercia attacks it with MA lossing 1 killing 3 of our tanks. Attack continues with cavalry and we swap 2 for 2. Infantry and mech infantry take out the remainder of our units in NA.
Egypt counter attack us near the ruins of Thebes. Egyptian MA kills 2 mech inf. We kill 1 MA, the other MA is in the red.

1710AD talk with Iroquois, they sign an alliance with us vs America for 154 gpt. Iroquois declare war on America. No more neutral nations.
In SA Coatepec & Tlapanaloya are captured form the Aztec. I think these will be the last 2 Aztec towns I add to our empire, from now on I will be razing cities.

Also in SA Cleveland is captured and razed. In Africa/Europe it was alot of troop movement and a few tries for a GL. A fish for GL in SA gets me Monash :) looks like we finally cycled back to the top of the leader names.
(I) Joan comes to us proposing we pay her 192 gpt for an MPP. I politely decline. Germany & Japan declare war on France. Egypt finishes 2 spaceship parts.

1715AD Spaceship update:
Egypt 2 built 0 in production
Aztec 1 built 2 in production
France 5 built 5 in production
America 6 built 2 in production :D a drop of 1. Wonder if it wsa Clevland or they switched to war productino or Iroquois got em?
I cancel our trades with Joan and ask for Synth Fibers. She refuses to give it to me. I demand that she remove her troops from our territory and she declares war. Wonder if Babylon will honor their MPP with us :) Our artillery moves within range of Paris.
Monash (waited from end of last turn to beginning of this one, tank was builtin between) rushes a solar plant. Smells Nice is founded and we have incense :)
In Aftrica Heliopolis is captured and razed.
In SA New Thebis captured and razed. Coyotepoc captured and razed. Minneapolis captured and razed. American cities are gone from SA. Gl fishing get us Bartow who builds an airport in Smells Nice.
(I) Babylon declares war on France. France & Persia have a trade embargo against us. We lose a number of workers in Siberia to france when Germany fails to put up any fight that I could see.

1720AD Spaceship update: same as last turn.
Egypt 2 built 0 in production
Aztec 1 built 2 in production
France 5 built 5 in production
America 6 built 2
Fighting in SA gets us the GL Parker. Parker builds the pentagon in South American Post.
Tequixquiac is captured and razed.
In Europe, Paris is captured and Razed. The UN is gone, The French spaceship is gone. I'm gone to bed
to be continued.

In Europe, Paris is captured and Razed. The UN is gone, The French spaceship is gone.
...
American cities are gone from SA.

[dance][dance]

Sounds like we are running out of foreign cities in SA :)
The next job looks like putting good Australian cities down there.

I did built some cities in SA, just have not been mentioning them. Also I built a city up by where Paris was to give us a source of wine. As of right now we have all 8 luxuries (trading with iroquois for furs) which is about the only reason we are still a republic (war weariness is over 60% in some of our cities).

I think the Aztec are down to 2 cities controling rubber. If I can capture those, I would almost be inclided to make peace with the aztec if I could get an RoP (assuming I am not breaking any agreements) since this would help with the war weariness.

As it is I am trying to avoid revolting to monarchy until after Synth fabrics is learned while accumulating some cash for upgrading tanks to MA.
Helping this is our production base, even with several entertainers per city tanks are being built every other turn. Which saves me from having to run luxury tax (still at 0%)

We don't even need to think Monarchy until luxury tax is higher.
If we hit 30 to 40% luxuries, then we need to decide. I fear we will get the dreaded 8 turn anarchy, which would be a kiss of death for us. We can't afford to stop building units that long.

By that time, we should be able to let all of our MPP expire. Better, the AI may break some MPP with us. I would start looking for treaties that we can cancel to give us more flexibility for peace. Who do we have MPP with right now?

No matter what, don't make peace with Aztecs until that bottleneck city in Central America is gone.

I have to agree with Lee. I think we are doing great for WW in republic and think of all that extra cash we have picked up since we made the choice to go republic instead of Monarchy.
IIRC, we only had one MPP with Persia. We should be OK with that side.
Its great about the Iroquois, the longer they can keep the Americans fighting, the longer we have to get there.

After reading your replies, it has ocurred to me that we are even better off than I thought. Right now at 60% science (to get syn fabric) and 0% luxuries I get about 800 gpt. Next turn when we learn syn fabric we could move to 0% science and 60% lux and increase our income per turn since we could put a large number of entertainers back to work in the fields and mines :)

I would experiment with luxuries. 60% is about the max we EVER want.
I would try 10% to start with. At this point a few entertainers won't kill us.

The big question is the MPP / alliance situation. Any ONE peace treaty will help. The easy once is France.
Take out European France, and they are a non-player. I think that is there only source of large cities.

The cash flow is still very useful. I know during my 10, I rushed a ton of units in Siberia, a lot of settlers from India and some goodies in

SA. With all the new SA cities coming up, a suspect we can use a lot of rush builds down there also.

With Germany - we make get some chances to expand in Siberia. If they lose a cities to France, we me snag a few more for us.

@ALL - should we make this 5 turns a round? 10 turns is taking a LONG time.

I used the cash on my turn to rush improvements in SA and some critical units, when the Aztecs declared war. The best thing was that each of the important SA cities had airports. If this had not been the case, we would have likely lost one or two cities before we could get defenders in place. The rest of the money was sent on temples in new cities.
Also mentioned was that the Chinese cities still had resisters. I had thought that when the civ was eliminated resistance stopped. Maybe this is a change in 1.29?

I had no intention of going directly to 60% luxuries. I only mentioned it to put the "cushion" in perspective. I have only rushed a few things and have been trying to save up for upgrading to tanks MA.

I have no object to 5 turns around. My current turns are taking more than 1 hour each, I took me about 10 minutes just to bombard Paris with our artillery (and that was mostly type "b" then left click, with the occassional fortify mech inf thrown in to knock you out of rhythm)

Though I would like the option to take a turn or two more than 5 time permitting or maybe just based upon the situation. For example if Meldor had wanted to play one more turn just to get to use 90+ arty vs Thebes I would think it would be okay.

I wonder if it might not be tied to war weariness. I think in one of the towns where I had only happy faces and entertainers, when I put an entertainer back to work I got a resister not an unhappy face (this might have been in a former Aztec town).

OK - That is two players for loose 5 turn limit.
Any comments meldor?
