IIRC tobacco and spices won't appear near Nawcastle at all but close to the traditional harbors of that time (ie Plymouth and London).

I figured out why you guys had so easy a job. I think this is typical of the scenario-first-turn syndrom where it is so easy to take advantage of the AI in diplomacy/trade (à la France in Napoleonic Europe where you can basically get all AI (except locked war ennemies of course) cities). Guess players (and especially high-level players like you) should wait at least 1 turn before being allowed to practice any diplomacy.

How about today? :)

I had to get my comp fixed up, but I'll be getting it back within the hour. You'll get my turns before the night comes.

Wow... I was really stretched for time this week. =/

In short, I did a little bit of MMing and got cities going on Musketeers. We are now the proud owners of French Calais and Spanish Bruggen. We're one turn from a new tech and our wonder... so wait until next turn before bartering with the Dutch.

We're at turn 60 and the invasion of the League should last another 20-30 turns.

We should be on cruise control from here on.

nantes.jpg

We have 8 luxes and a 9th on its way. The tech tree is over in a few turns... You know what that means; oodles of gold for a romp through the countryside.

Preturn

Loaded up 3 MaAs and took Barfleur and the victory location from the League.

Load up some MaAs to take La Fleur next turn.

Turn 1

Oriental Trade in, go to big picture, but cant change the wonder to east or West India Trade. We dont even have any art shows so put it on War feeds War. Why not.

Take la Fleur and the VP.

Traded Oriental Trade for some military tech and 1000 gold from germany and for Mills and a small bit of gold from the Dutch. We're at tech parity.

Turn 2

Take Rouen. The League is folding like a deck of cards. We need some dragoons up to speed this along.

Ive loaded up some MaAs to go around the horn and take Nantes and salt from the league.

Turn 3

Take Amiens. Set up to take Paris.

Found a city with that fortified settler in London. Founded Oxford near La Havre (not La fleur I guess).

West Indies is being built in Exeter BTW with East India in London.

Turn 4

Somehow we arent at war with the League anymore. Whatever. Redeclare.

The luxury slider is up way high solely for Exeter to shave off a turn on West indies.

Take Paris and the VP but lose the freaking musketeer army. My bad.

Turn 5

East india in. Turn lux down.

Most everyone is resting.

Ill play one more to hopefully get us some salt.

Turn 6

Crap. I let Exeter riot in my haste to turn lux down.

Dragoons have stealth attack. Nice. Im using them to destroy the underlying muskets in these cities. They are only 4-4-2 so they cant really do well against pikes.

Take Nantes and then have some MaAs left over so I took Vannes as well ;).

I made a mistake on the research to artillery, Cuirassiers would have been a huge gamebreaker. Hopefully someone'll research it soon.

Oh and London does 25 shields now in anticipation of Cuirassiers (80 shields). We can short rush the 55 shield musketeers and build them by the tons.

@killer - man you play fast, and good. I usually end up with one or the other....

Got it. Bringing the bacon home.

Afraid we have mined all the subtleties out of this one. It is straightforward smash and grab until we get the 50% land and population. There have been no League counter attacks and the only losses I took were against Muslim pirates on a Sea Dog cruise to the Med (lost the whole flotilla of three and didn't get a single prize capture).

Set up the troops to take the last town in the west and St Quentiin, the capitol after the fall of Paris. That should set up the League interior for the plucking. Might want to take the wines town near Metz I think it is just so we don't have to be buying any from Henry.

We can build mills if we want a production boost but we can buiild pretty much all the military we need in London and Winchester in three turns and use partial rushes elsewhere to accomplish the same.

Wow did we get Artillery cheap or what?

Great work you two, our battlelines are looking very promising. I'll focus on rushing some mills and getting us wines.

After the League is conquered... do we proceed to take on Spain or should we take all of France (is this possible, or are we in a locked alliance)?

Preturn.
Hmm... Angers would have been worth more for the wines.
Planted a spy in Inverness (Scottish), they have plenty of units for us to smash later. However, my spy try in Spain failed.

IT- We lose our ivory, that's gonna hurt.
We lose a Sea Dog to a Muslim attack [0-1]

Turn 1.
Slay 2 muskets and 1 militia and capture Brest!! [3-1]
Change build orders to mills, why not?

IT-...
Turn 2.
Kill 3 pikes, 2 muskets, 1 pikeman and 1 pikeman in an army :crazyeye: to capture St. Quentin! [10-1]

IT- French capture the city Blois (one of the wine cities).
Lots of random war unhappiness

Turn 3.
Troops are healing.

IT- A treasure is produced!
French are preparing to take Angers, we MUST beat them to it!

Turn 4.
Preparing to take more cities.

IT- French only kill 1 pike @ Angers.

Turn 5.
Investigate Angers (with newly planted spy), only 1 pike and a MGL!!! Kill the pike w/ that unused MGL and capture Angers! We have wine connected, thank the Lord.
Investigate Alencon, only 2 units. Kill the pike and pikeman inside and capture Alencon!
Finally, I bombard the Christian out of Troyes and kill 4 pikes and a pikeman... Troyes falls to us!! [18-1]

Aftermath::
*Many units unmoved for killer's turns.
*Usy our spies and keep trying to plant more.
*Don't forget to use our surplus gold to rush mills when able.

Btw, do you want to knock Scotland out of the game before taking on our next opponent? It might help with happiness in the north, plus it's more points in general. I'm for it, then either an attack on France (if possible) or the full scall invasion of the Castillian province.

Pre turn

All is well. Move the unmoved units to look for some action

Jul 1618

We can turn lux slider down to zero and make 215 per. Love those trade companies.

The 7 cannons by Dijon hit, and we... dont take it yet. Not enough offensive troops.

Sold Scotland some backwards tech. We'll smash em when our new units come in.

Got an Rop with France for our useless wool and 5 gpt. We're going to mosh all over them too.

Dragoons can destroy bombards in cities. Interesting.

Jan 1619

This is Turn 78 of the scenario.

Capture Dijon and a bombard.

Metz is STILL holding out. I moved the cannon support down for the future french offensive.

Jul 1619

Metz taken. The League is about to go the way of the Irish.

Treasure is produced and sent homeward.

Jan 1620
Leaguers gone.

Most cities on the French front have barracks and can rush units straight out.

Ill let the next player do the French bashing. We still need a few more units.

Jul 1620

Renew the Jack Daniels deal with Germany for reg heavy cavalry. Maybe a mistake but the games gonna be over soon if we can get a few more units out.

Brest riots with 3 happy people. Huh?

No fancy pictures, my turns were kind of boring. Theres a Spanish city or two in range, and Bede can choose the course of action with the French. Does this thing end on turn 90 or 120? We're almost done either way with a huge 30K plus lead in VPs.

Theres some room to rush more units to the front. All the resting troops are in ORLEANS.

I investigated ?Bordeaux? French wine coastal city by the capital <-- it only had 10 units, w/ most of those being muskets and other such obsolete units.

Great work kane... btw I'll be gone until late Sunday, so do some damage for me, ok?

Kill 'em all I say.

See what I can do and still save some bashing for cw

Bash on, cizzle!

@Lou, something is definitely awry with Germany. No troops in Fred's cities, just cannon, most of which now belong to the English.

We are at 41% land and 40% population, a few more French cities and it's done.

Whoa, NO units in German lands? That's definetly a glitch of some sort.

OK, I'll have turns posted by tomorrow team.

I Love to see the city of Ghent in a game, because i live in Ghent :p
Great game huys, i'm enjoying it, it's something different then the normal Succension game ;)

Lou said something about the Germans having the 40 defense placeholder troops similar to the Spanish Americas. Guess not! Nice work.

Thanks for posting Furrie, its nice to have a lurker. I didnt think we had any for this game.
