For me it was from around 18:15 to 00:35, 6:15 hours!

It was on a standard map and i got from the late ancient age to middle industrial age!

And you?

I've played the whole game at once some times... Imagine the headache.

I've just finished a session from 3pm to 8pm, which is 5 hours and is close. But I think I've had longer ones.

I occasionally suffer from insomnia. A couple of months ago I woke up at 2 am on a Saturday and couldn't get back to sleep. I started playing demigod C3C (RaR) on a huge map with 14 AI civs. I took a couple of breaks to use the toilet and make a cup of tea. Finally, at noon, my wife asked if I was going to play all day. I had played for almost 10 hours.

Well, yesterday I started around 3PM, took a short dinner break - (to cook - ate at the screen) spent some time with the wife when she came home around 9, and started again at 10 - next thing I knew the birds were singing ...and it wasn't the ones in the game! 6:30 AM.

I left the game on - so I guess with breaks I played 14 hours out of 16.5.

Ah, the joys of being unemployed ... :crazyeye:  ;)

I started an OCC game at about 9:30 one Sunday morning. I finished the game just before midnight. Game time was just over 11 hours.

I am not sure of my longest session, but it is normal for me to start when I get up and stop just before going to bed. So 15 hrs is not uncommon. but I am sure I have run longer.

The boss lady falls asleep on the counch anyway and we are no longer married so she has no say.

I guess it's also the reason for being unemployed ...
Nah, I only picked up civ after becoming unemployed ... and I don't play it like that all the time. Mostly in the evenings/late night -(I am an insomniac and don't sleep well - usually about 3 to 4 hours a night does me okay). I usually spend my mornings job searching & studying to upgrade my skills - and my afternoons in chat rooms like this and doing chores... ;)

I'm unemployed because of the Outsourcing the IT field is doing in the US. They sent my last job overseas - and the city I live in has been in an economic reccession for many many years. However my wife does not want to move so it is common for me to spend several months between contracts.

studying to upgrade my skills ...
Reduce your Luxury Slider a bit then buy the upgrades in a few turns :P

I'm not sure how long my biggest session ever was. I lost count after 48 hours.

When I first started I played from Friday night around 11pm to Sunday afternoon around 2pm. 39 hours. My ex asked if I was on crack. A couple of quick meal breaks along the way. I was really into CIV when I started. I was still amped after finishing, much like after 20 hours of driving you get shaky, then I slept until work Monday. afternoon.

I have played for 3 days with a friend before. We had coffee breaks, (plenty of coffee!) and food breaks and stretched a lot. We also had two 6 hours sleeps but had the alarm clock set to get up again and continue. I think I slept for a day after that and I'd think twice about embarking on such a project again but it was true Civ indulgence for those 3 days!!!

My longest game ever was similar to Barbslinger's time. I started Friday after work and finished up about noon Sunday. I have vowed to NEVER do that again. I was actually staggering when I'd get up to refill my coffee and the last several hours weren't really much fun...but I did win. :smug:

Ahh, in the olden days when I was young we only had board games like Risk ... no such beasts as pc's - I remember marathon days and days of playing Risk ... only stopping long enough to eat, take a short nap and run out to the store to get more beer... :D

Man don't start me on the Risk! And definitely don't mention Civ the board game!
Civ had a boardgame????

Still does. I don't know if it's related to the PC game but it has a modest tech tree, trading, settlers, maintenance issues but only one unit. It's cool of course :D.

Sid had the board game first, so the PC game was based on his board game. The basic concepts of the Civ Advances and grabbing territory were present.

Set map, of course. Europe, of course. No, or little terrain. Lots of cardboard counters. Whoever knew the rules usually won.

Civ II (I think) came with the original board game map you could select to play.
