I've been looking for this game for a long time. Some 15 years ago, alongside with all the fancy strategy games, i used to play and enjoy a couple of indie strategy games. One of them was Sean O'Connor's Slay.
The second one I can't recall the title. It had poor graphics like Slay, it took place around 300 BC in the Mediterranean and you could pick among some 20 nations (Romans, Macedonians, Egyptians, Seleucids, Cartaginians etc).
You controlled some cities and 1-2 armies. You couldn't do much with the cities they were just there to provide taxes and people so you can build armies. The cities you could also fortify by spending money. The cities had a degree of how poor or rich they were. Richer cities were usually better fortified or protected by armies.
The armies would consist of 5-6 different unit types (light cavalry, heavy cavalry, archers, infantry etc) which could be recruited according to money and population. You could also hire mercenaries. Armies could move up to 20 tiles per turn according to terrain.
You could also build ships in order to transport your armies.
The goal was of course to crush enemy armies and conquer cities within a time frame. Obviously the game was turn based.
Any help on the name would be greatly appreciated, i would probably recognize the game by a single screenshot. To be honest I don't expect anything as the game is probably very unknown and old, but in any case thanks a lot in advance.
