Looking for info on how to install Ashes of Erebus and whether GOG or Steam Civ IV better for it

Is there any guide on how to install Ashes of Erebus? Also am i better installing Civ IV from GOG or Steam to get the mod to work?

I am not familiar with Ahes but most people who post about mod problems are using Steam. So, I would think that the GOG version is more mod friendly than the Steam one. I use the GOG one.
