Well, after a few abortive attempts with complete strangers on the mplayer circut, I've decided to come to CFC and try and "wrangle me up a good posse" (heh) to play civ4.
I want to set up a game that more mature players can play and enjoy, without having to worry about people of...disreputable attitude ruining things for the rest of us.
To that extent, I've pulled together some guidelines, to help pull together a more interesting allotment of players. This is still very formative and subject to revision, if you have any suggestions, feel free to suggest them.
1. This is for people who are willing to take a little bit of time and play through interesting, fun games with other mature and responsible individuals. We're not looking for rude, impatient or profane individuals. Keep a civil tone, and remember that it's just a game, everyone is trying to have a good time, not just you.
2. Games will start with the prefix CFC for easier identification, and will have the password fanatic, to keep out people who haven't read this yet.
3. Unless you have specifically indicated otherwise, the group will assume you want to continue playing. Should you drop out of the game, we will assume you crashed or somethign similar, and wait for you to re-enter (time limit on this? 5min seems good for now...) also, relating to that...
4. ...Some games will take a long time, and while it is understood that you won't always be able to finish, it's important to let the rest of the players know that you'll be leaving, so we can get a replacement or continue on without you. Otherwise we'll end up waiting, and that's no fun for the rest of us.
5. I was going to put a caveat in here along the lines of "no Dial-up" but I'd like to find out how well civ4 runs without broadband before I add that.
That's really all there is to it for now (all I can think of, at least) I'd like to schedule a game with these provisions soon, to try them out. Feel free to post below if you're interested in playing in the next little while, or if you have anything to add or change with regards to my guidelines.
