Lost almost all of Gold edition. Help...

Hi Guys,

I bought civ 4 gold edition for the pc about a year and a half ago. I bought it physically at the store as opposed to downloading. Just a few months ago, some of my personal items were stolen along with my civ 4 game. The bandits took off with everything except my Gold edition "Disc 1" which was in another location.
I have not had computer access the past few months as I am out of the country so I can not currently test my game; I do have some questions though:

(1) Is disc 1 by itself enough to play warlords/vanilla? (The game is already installed on my computer).
(2) If I need to, what is the best way to replace my stolen game? (hopefully, something cost effective--i really don't want to have to shell out another $30).

The latest BTS version (3.19) you can play without disc in drive. So you should be good. If your install is on some lower version, download the setup for the 3.19 patch.. You should find it linked in this forum, look at the sticky threads.

As regarding to (2), someone wrote recently here that making a backup of your installed game folder is sufficient. I don't know if this is true but it's worth a shot. Use 7z or winrar to make an Archive of alle the files under $civ4_install_location/
