I have a recurring problem when deleting or opening a saved file. Note that it is a regular save and not a quick save. This only happens when when I first launch Civ V when I am ready to play. This is single player and not multiple. I am not using Steam. App and all the DLCs were purchased via App Store.
Basically, and this is happening practically every night, I get to the screen to play. I select load game. I then click the top of the list to delete an old save. It deletes, I then click on the second one and I get the spinning pizza of death. I am forced to force quit it. I have even waited up to 15 minutes in the hopes that it will respond, but it never does.
After that, all my other apps on my Mac get the spinning pizza of death as well. They are not labor-intensive ones (i.e., mail, iCal, TextEdit). I then try to force quit them, but then the entire system freezes. I have to push the power button to shut down.
I then restart, and of course, Civ V launches as it had been open before I force quit it. And, it doesnt respond. It just plays the intro video and I can click to my hearts content, but I cant get to the play menu.
So I force quit again, and then force quit all my other apps, but am able to shut down completely without pushing the power button.
I then reboot and all is well, except that the first few turns of the game take an extremely long time (even in early years).
It does this practically every night and I dont understand it. It always freezes/spinning pizza of death when first starting it and deleting a previously saved game. Or if I had deleted them the night before, it freezes/spinnig pizza of death when I try to play the last saved game.
My specs are:
2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
24 GB 800 MHz DDRS F8-DIMM
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB Graphics
Apple 23 inch display
OS 10.7.2
I also have the latest version version of Civ V (per the App Store).
Any thoughts or ideas? Id appreciate it.
