mac multiplayer app store version?

how does multiplayer for the app store version of the game work does it link with gamecenter or your user id or what because theres no-one online and i dont know how to have custom matches with non steam players anyone help?

Mac App Multiplayer is LAN only, so it uses your computer's account name as the user name. You'll only see games if there are other people starting games on your LAN.
