Here's my computer specs:20" iMac 10.3.3
1.25 ghz G4 160 GB HD.
When i do the installation in the middle i get this:Sorry, the operation could not be completed due to a System error:(I/O Error-Bad Media?).So could you help me out please? thanks!

HI

It's saying it can't read the CD (or, less likely, that it can't write to the hard drive). If your CD/DVD drive works OK for other CDs then the chances are it's a hosed Civ3 CD. Can you take it back the the store and ask for a replacement?

It works fine on my old iMac! I might just ask for a new Civ CD.Maybe Apple store has it! Civ works fine on my old iMac maybe i could email the whole Civ 3 to myself? Thank You though!

You can link your two Macs with a Firewire cable and then start the main one, pressing the 'Y' key [I think] until you see a Firewire logo on the screen. That will make the other Mac's HD accessible and you just transfer the files.

Perhaps someone with more tech know-how could improve on my directions. I haven't done this for a while, but it works fine. It's what your Apple Store guys do to transfer files to your new computer.

And transfer Civ over? I really want it to work on my iMac (the new one) without problems so that i could have fun with it! Thanks Sid and AlanH!

T is for target disk mode, not Y.
Since there is no stuff installed outside the civ III folder, that can be a solution (either over firewire with target disk mode, or over ethernet with file sharing/ftp or any other transfer protocol).
In addition 1.29 does not require the CD to be present in the machine so if the CD is damaged to the point that you can't even play, just update to 1.29.
The fact that it is working in the old machine does not mean that the cd is OK as different drive speed can impact on the readability of the cd.

I did the drive transfer and it worked! I'll hvae to see if it works though but my problem i s fixed. Thanks Gremlins for that tip i think my Civ is at 1.29! I'll make a disk copy of it.
