I stayed up until 1am this morning waiting to get this game with my younger brother. His mom had prepaid for the game and it was supposed to be out at 8pm on the 9th of August. We got to the store an were informed that the shipment was late and it would be there at around 9pm. We decided to wait around and look at other games. 9pm rolls around and we are told that it looks like it will be there at 10:30 pm. My wife, my brother (actually her brother, mine by marriage), and I decided to get the phone number of the game store (GameStop) and have Alex, the brother, sleep over at our house so we could go back to the store later and get the game and not make his mom go out late at night.
We call the store up at 10ish and they tell us it has been moved back until midnight! Well, we stay up later and play GameCube - Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Simpsons: Hit and Run, and watch some baseball. A little before midnight we call up and they tell us that 12:30 am now! By this time I am getting sleepy and don't know how much longer I can go since I have to get up at 6am to get ready for work. I tell Alex that I will give them another half hour and after that I am going to go to bed. We call again at 12:20am and they have it in but not as many as they expect and they can't guarranty that they will have any when we get there - they have a lot of angry people at the shop! Well, we hop into the car and get down to the store in 15 minutes - normally it takes 30+ minutes - only to find out that we are in back of 20 other people waiting for the game. Luckily though, Alex's mother had completely paid for the game already so we got to the front - we got "VIP" treatment.
The funniest things about this all is that he didn't even play the game when we got home because he was too tired and I ended up calling into work and telling them I would be 2 hours late so I could sleep in.
Anyone else get Madden 2005 last night?
