No, I'm not going to complain about moving the mafia games ;)

However now that they've moved we have a small problem - the mafia game is visited nearly exclusively by the players of the particular game. And the other game forum still doesn't have nearly as much traffic as the OT forum.
Untill now in every new mafia game we posted the game and the people who were at the time in OT would join it. Now that it moved to the other games forum most of these potential players won't get to see it.

So I was wondering, is it possible to make some kind of an arrangement so that:
1. We'll start the thread in OT and once we have all our recruits the thread will be moved to the other games forum, or
2. Same as 1, but with the OT thread deleted and a new one opened in the other games forum

This way we'll still get new recruits for each game. So is it possible?

Well, technically it is a game, and belongs in the Games forum. If the Games forum isn't popular, the game just won't be able to be popular. With your logic, any time you start a thread in a forum that isn't trafficed and feel passionate about it, you could start a thread in the Off-Topic forum advertising it. Which would be bad.

But I guess I agree with you, G-Man. It seemed better when it was in the OT forum.

True, but mafia game is different than word association in the sense that you can't take part ay any part of the game. So people who will want to be in the next mafia thread will have to keep following a game they're not in, which I doubt many will do.

Purchase an ad banner or ad annoucement from Thunderfall.

But what will the people with genital herpes do? ;)

I have a feeling some of our current players don't even know about it... And XIII just edited a post he made before in the OT rules so for people browsing the forum it doesn't look as if it's been updated.

Looking in the All Other Games forum, I notice that the mafia/word threads have increased traffic to All other Games, and the other game threads are actually getting more posters, so instead of the mafia/word threads dieing off once moved, they are increasing visitors to all other games forum.

I think it did both.

Very wise of you, to make such a claim before validating it...

On the same day I moved the threads, I'd specifically added a new post to the stickied OT Bulletin Board to state so. If the OT regulars can't be bothered to look up the stickied thread with a new post, nothing much I can do... ;)

Like Lefty said, purchase an ad banner or ad announcement fr TF... :p

Seriously, you can go ahead and make an announcement in OT (I'll sticky it), but give it two days at least before closure of registration to ensure no more complaints fr potential participants, who miss it 'cause of the time or what. ;)

How about an OT Sign up list for the mafia game that gets deleted when the new game starts? This way people in OT know a new game is starting, and it gets deleted, so it won't clog the board.

That was what I suggested...

XIII - I guess that could work ;) And what I ment was that there were three posts there before, and there are three posts there right now, so it doesn't look as if it's been updated.

Sorry, I ment to say 3 replies. You had a reply linking to some important threads and after it another reply by you saying you added the previous one... And then you replaced the last one with an announcment about moving the threads to the other games forum...

I deleted the last post about adding some popular links sometime last week.

And then, a few days later (Sunday actually), I added a new post about moving the game threads. ;) Look at the stamp-date of the last post. ;)

In any case, I'd left the redirect in the old Mafia thread slot, so any of the present players who're looking for the thread, can still follow it back to its present location... My guess is... not all players log into CFC daily (like us  ).

Damn life havers... ;)

Well I'm thinking about starting a new thread because of that... And although I can't guarentee keeping it open for new players for a long time (there are only so many places), I'll probably put a quota of players per country so not all will be Americans.
