Perhaps this is naive of me and has already been explained away somewhere...

But are the current main menus as seen in the streamers' builds simply placeholders? The screen is about 85% blue with just a very tiny portion dedicated to options to select and a hardly visible world map in the background. It just seems like with so much empty space you could really show off the Civs and Leaders more when making selections. The music in the background is also the same from the First Look videos and doesn't fit well, although I assume this will be replaced by Christopher Tin's music upon release.

Were the Civ V early builds as bare bones in the menu department?

It's unlikely to change. I don;t see any need for something bigger, though. Settings screen have quite significant size and advanced setup is likely to have it too.

What's bother me more is the fact that menu is very simple yet the moving circle to the left seems to lag some times... even on GTX 1080 lol.

We know that the settings on the main menu for the LPers are limited, as it's a press build. So it's hard to draw a firm conclusion about how expanded the main menu will end up being, or whether there are advanced options that make more use of the screen. We know it won't be the same, though, because currently there's no 'multiplayer' option on the main menu, but we know there is going to be multiplayer in the game.

The main menu music in the LP builds is the American theme. I think it's a safe assumption that Christopher Tin's theme will be used instead.
