Basically, I'm trying to get CivDOS to run faster under DOSBox. When I first played Civilization, it was on an old 486DX machine, where it would run just lightning fast. For instance, the beginning screen where "CIVILIZATION" appears slow piece by piece would zip up, technology advancements would go through fast, etc.

Now, I'm running it on a machine light-years ahead of that one, yet it goes slow... Anyone know how to tweak it or DOSBox so it goes faster again?

Check the dosbox read-me. I don't know if it's there, but it might be.

When you are running Civ in DOSBox hold down Ctrl and hit F12 a few times. That will speed up the CPU cycles. To lower them again hold down Ctrl and hit F11.

Works wonders... :) I also noticed it's displayed when you start up DOSBox... I feel kind of silly. Thanks!
