Making walls until 1 turn then chopping for extra production w/ Limes card. Still a thing?

I haven't played the game that much for the last 2 years. Right after Rise and Fall came out, I was determined to get better and watched a couple of Civ Trader 6's playlists. I have a few questions:
  • One of his main strats was to slot in Limes (+100% production toward defensive buildings), make walls until 1 turn left, chop, then use extra production toward whatever is needed. Is this still doable in Gathering Storm?
  • All of his videos were on Standard Speed. I've been playing on Quick or Online and feel like some of Civ Trader 6's strats won't hold up as well on a faster game speed. Is chopping less of a "thing" on faster speeds? Like timing waves of builders, chopping out districts, district buildings and wonders?

Faster game speeds are much harder for the player, so keep that in mind. Emperor AI on Online speed is about as difficult as Deity AI on Standard speed from my experience. War is incredibly hard on online. Chopping is still strong, but maybe less so, because micromanaging it is super hard. Magnus tours are so much worse. I don't think the Limes "exploit" (it was working as intended imo..) works anymore.

Thanks guys. If I slot in the +50% production for Settlers and chop out a Settler, will I get the +50% for the chop from the card? And do I get to keep the overflow production and use it towards the next thing in queue?

It's my understanding overflow from bonus % policy cards only applies to the next item if it's within the same category. For example, chopping an archer at 1 turn left with agoge, the overflow would be granted if the next build is buffed by agoge (ex: archer/warrior/spearmen). The exploit from other types of builds getting % overflow has been removed. So the famous Limes card isn't slotted nearly as much.
