A few random wierdnesses.

Should a Strength 3 Malakite hunter consistently be able to take out a three strength 6 hill giants?

Especially if said hill giants are in a forest and the malakite has to cross a river to reach them?

The only promotion I can see on the hunter is 'nomad'.

On a different note - how long does a Druid's entangle last? I've used it several times, and each time the unit I entangled moved away on their very next turn...

Nomad isn't meant to apply there, unless perhaps the hill is desert under the forest, but Giants are in the 'animals' class (I think) and so hunters get a prettybig bonus there.
Hold a right click from the hunters to the giants to read the combat odds report for details, but elsewhere ppl are suspecting that there is something out of whack in combat calculations. One position is that currently several bonuses are factored in on -both- sides of the battle, so that +%20 vs barbs (for example) will both add to the non-barb's str /and/ subtract from the barb's. IF this is going on, many battles will not feel as they used to.

Hmm - well, I get my giant's strength at around 3.75 ish, and the hunter up around 6 or 8...

But even with a base Strength of 3, the giant should be on strength 9 (+50% strength for forest) and the hunter would need at least a bonus of +200% to match let alone exceed that...

Just seems very strange...

Errr +50% strength on 3 would make them 4.50...

There seem to be a bug on animal class right now : it is applied once on the hunter (+100% vs animal, strength go to 6) and once on the giant (who for some reason is an animal and gets -50% to his strength, going to 3). Then you can factor in all the terrain you want, but the hunter is going to win fairly reliably.

Last I checked, Giants don't get defensive modifiers.

Nope, because they're animals in order to prevent them from entering cultural borders (since they appear from the very beginning). This is a well-known, oft-reported bug; checking the bug thread before posting it might've been a good plan...

FWIW, that's Malakim.
