Map creation Custom Continents faulty?

potential bug with custom continents.
Maybe I just don't understand the set-up but I thought with this I get 1 continent per player

however when I tested it 3 times in a row, I get several players per continent and not 1 as I expected

Is there something missing or is that supposed to be that way?
 
Have you teamed up some of the AI here? This would be correct if you had for some reason split the civ's into four teams.
 
Maybe map generation just doesn't stop the continents from bleeding into one another... so some "continents" end up connected, like asia, europe and africa... or north america and south america.
That map looks rather like each civ is placed on the 'seed' of a different continent.
 
From just looking at your Pics, I believe what the AI has done is connected some of the Continents. The reasoning behind this is that you have the World size set at Standard with 7 players and one Continent per Team/Player. I think the AI has problems making seperate continents like this. Try making the World map larger to see what happens.
 
thanks for the comments. I will try a larger map size to see whether then the result will be different.
However, I think the map generator should be able to get 7 separate continents up. Otherwise, why give that option.

And no, I did not 'team up' anyone. I don't even know how that would be supposed to be done. I end up sharing the continent with the AI and certainly did not team with them. What is the meaning of 1 per 'team'? What's the difference of team and player?
