Map Generation?

So, I usually start my games with the following settings: standard size, continents, high sea level, random civ.
When that random civ turns out to be Scythia, I always get the exact same start:

To the east will be Nubia, to the southeast Egypt, underneath Egypt will be Kongo. Each and every time. Just had this occur for the 6th or 7th time within the last few weeks.
I was under the assumption that maps were generated randomly but that is obviously not true. But this clone thing doesn't seem to happen when I get another Civ randomly, only happens with Scythia (so far). Anyone have a clue or link how this all works?

Weird. Maybe delete your map seed and re-roll? Seems possibly related.

Any mods installed?

You might have cultural link on in the setting but then that is odd with Scythia

Huhhh? Never seen that option in civ 6...

OP: the only way that could happen is if you are using a saved configuration, as it also saves map seed unless you put the seed fields blank before saving.

In English? I am using a saved configuration but this still only happens when the random civ is Scythia. Don't know how the seed thing works.
Using CQUI, airpower and steel and thunder mods. Don't think they affect map generation.

if you save the game setting "Configuration" , it saves the same map seed. So if you use the seem setting by loading up a saved config, the map seed is always the seem

Seed fields are at the bottom of the advanced setup screen, delete the numbers in both to empty the data fields, and then save the config... that way, every time you use that config, the engine will re-generate a new pair of random seeds...

Thanks but that was clear to me. What I don't understand is how the seed works exactly, what it does. Does random mean completely random generated on the spot or just a random seed number giving one of a number of pre-made maps?

Completely random, there are no pre-made maps for the various script.
