I love it. I thought it was a great map in SMAC, but with the Planetfall's faction placement, it really shines. The way it spreads the factions on around half of the map means that often 4 civs will be on one of the 3 main continents, and the other 3 will be on the other 2, but on the coasts close to the "full" continent. In my last game, the first Planetfall game I ever finished (I was playing Morgan, emperor level - oh hey, I noticed the Ayn Rand references in base names - and got placed with Zakharov west of Pholus Ridge, with most factions on the continent with the jungle) that lead to medium scale naval war with Lal in the submarine/destroyer age after he conquered a southern base of mine. I don't know, the straights between continent are not all that narrow, and somehow you still feel like the guy over at the opposing caost is your neighbor, probably because we both had a seabase in the straight and after i had conquered a base on an island off coast, we could both channel troops over to the other side without strictly needing transports.
I don't know, it just felt very cool.

And in planetfall I don't even have to keep myself from destroying the map by terraforming it to a huge blob of land anymore .

Oh, i won by subspace portal thing victory, after I had Lal vassalized. :D, MY 2410, so yeah it's over kinda fast but still better than SMAC
I'm trying Yang as a hybrid now...

I forgot. There are no executives for Morgan Mines and Morgan Sea ressources, does that mean you can only have them in one base? I noticed the base to build them first gets renamed so i guess it's meant to be just the one?

Yes, only one base can have them. Didn't notice the name change feature so far, cool  That reminds of the AI habit in SMAC to rename captured bases...

First game I played as Miriam, noble difficulty, on the eastern-most continent. Started RIGHT in the middle of that beautiful monsoon jungle, which was eerily fitting (looked like a veritable garden of eden). only Morgan, Lal, Deidre were on that continent - Morgan to the north, lal to the east, deidre to the southeast. Ended up making a vassal out of lal once he founded homo superior and killing deidre's bases on continent and handing them to lal (she moved to some island anyway), but Morgan and I were the best buds ever throughout the whole game, defensive pacts and everything.

To boot, he was 2nd-highest on the tier list besides me (we switched places a lot). He colonized the middle continent along with roze/aki.

The best part of the game was invasion of Yang's bases on the bottom half of the westernmost continent. I was invading from the west, but to the east he was getting his ass kicked by the native life (he was the fourth-highest tier, away from santiago, so this was weird). I invaded him and then lost some bases to the native life (weakened state from invasion) and never really sorted that out, but spread edenism to santiago in the north and won a religious victory.

Oh yeah, and he declared war on me, apparently for trying to spread edenism in his bases. I had spread it with a few missionaries, then he declared war and killed my remaining missionaries, which was excellently fitting.
