Map Request: Western Hemisphere

Well, I can make minor changes to the map with no problem (I'm not that inept with the map editor ;)), but yes, I was thinking to have cities controlling lengths of the river. So, for example, Vicksburg should be a choke point on the Mississippi. Cairo should be a Union-held choke point between the Mississippi and Ohio river.

The eastern seaboard seems very stretched out and narrow. I'm not sure if that's right or not. But it looks like it will work though.

Yep, the eastern seaboard is supposed to look like that. I'm not sure if it looks stretched because of the angle, but I did it by graph, so it should be accurate. Oh, and I'll add those controll points you mentioned too. I might post a preview of the Amazon and Paraguay rivers a bit later as well.

Edit: I suppose I should make Ohio river seafaring too.

I know it was possible in Civ2, and I don't know if it's possible in Civ3, but can a ship pass from two sea squares that are directly one on top of the other or directly side by side? Because if that were the case, it could be used to make the rivers look a little less like long lakes.

Yes, it would be nice if the Ohio were navigable as well. (Actually, it'd be nice if the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers were nagivable as well, but that'd really be pushing it on a map this size.

No, unfortunately ships can't do that in Civ3. It would have been usefull, though, even if it were just an option.

I have now completed North America (except for forests). I have attached a pic of part of the map I have not shown before: Mexico and western United States. Tell me how it looks :)

As you can see, I've also made the Rio Grande seafaring.

Guess what? ;)

The map is DONE !!!

..... except for resources. Do you want me to do those, or are you doing those yourself?

Then I shall post it right away..... presto chango!

I just love that banana smilie

Link fixed.

Here it is:

Thank you :D

And for any lurkers who are interested: I have decided to do an official version of this map to be released in the maps forum. It will be extended to the north and south to include all of north and south america. I should have it done sometime next week.

GREAT MAP! This is great, now I can make my Native American Powers ancient, and middle ages scenarios. It's going to be an alternate history having the great empires start in N. and S. America and later the map I'm requesting below with the Native Americans set out to conquer Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. It's like Age Of Discover but with the Native Americans being the one who's doing the discovering.

Red Alert how about a map which stretches from Alaska to Antartica (actually around the Straight of Magellan) vertically and from Alaska to Arabia (Alaska to the Persian Gulf)?

I'm very glad I'm helping you too, Mobilize. As for your request, I'd be more than happy to take it on, providing you don't mind waiting a bit - I have another map and a couple map editing jobs on the go, but if it's urgent, I could push them aside no problem. If you don't mind, though, if you could give me a couple things concerning your map, it would help:

-Do you have any size in mind? Not exact, of course, but relative.

- Could you post a visual of what exactly you want for your map (like the one Dom Pedro II had in post #1) that would help as well. (I'm a very visual person ;) )

Your scenario sounds very cool, I might add :goodjob:

Super! This is likely to be a massive project, even bigger than the one I just finished. I'll begin work soon :)
But for now, sleep

RedAlert, you don't need to work on it.. I had remembered I requested and somebody made it for me. I thought I had lost it, but it's been found. I had my sister send it to me through email.

So... *sniff*... I don't get to do it? :(

;)

Ah well, it will give me more time for my other projects then.
Glad I could almost help :D

while I'm here - your scenarios sound very interesting. Are you planning on releasing more information about it soon? Perhaps? Maybe? If we're good?
especially the events/plot (since itis obviously alternate history)...

You know, I just might do that.... :mischief: Not a bad idea.....
