Map Size options in Civ 4.

The exact quote from Barry was "It was easier to make really huge maps in 2D. The largest maps in Civ 4 will be a bit smaller than their Civ 3 counterparts but there is a lot more going on with all the animations and all the available information."

Well, wouldn't it depend on the meaning of "a bit smaller" ?? I mean, for all we know, we've only been seing screen shots of "small" or "standard" size worlds.

So, maybe we won't get 362x362 3D maps... but if the cap is something like 250x250, that's still a pretty large map. Even if the cap is 200x200, the maps will still be a decent size.

Firaxis also pointed out they have been playing 18-civ multiplayer games. Let's say each player was able to comfortably have 3 or 4 cities.. that's still a pretty large map, don't you think?

I think it's being blown out of proportion, because the words "a bit smaller" have become "small" in a lot of peoples' minds.

To quote one of my favorite movie lines:

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
