can somone(s) touch on the pros and cons from your experience's with large and huge maps. I have tunnel vission and have always played on the standard map. I'm about to start a new game and am considering increasing the map size. I know the larger maps offer more civs to compete against but that's about the extent of my knowledge. Are the larger maps just more area and more civs? I've read posts that suggest these maps are geared towards "builders" and am concerned they are not suited for my style of play. I play on emperor and pretty much set my civs goals/direction as the game unfolds/dictates.
-I apologize if this is not the right area to post this question. I posted earlier about the U.N. elections and was asked to follow a link to the "quick answers" forum/thread. I only saw "quick reply" and could not figure out how to start a new thread to post this question. I'm not forum savvy, maybe someone would be kind enough to check out my U.N. elections post, in this forum, and elaborate. Thanks all...

Well to answer your question about posting under the Quick Answers you clikc on quick reply, and start you new post there.
As for map size the larger the map the more opponents is true however there are some things that go along with that. The tech speed is increased dramatically, especially if you are playing on Emperor. There is more land which means that Conquest/Domination wins are more difficult to attain. Lastly, with more opponents the time between turns will take alot longer, which can be a drag. That's the only reason I don't play above Large maps.

As to the map sizes, it's not only the number of opponents that's bigger. The research cost is increased as is the OCN. There may be other things, but I might have forgotten some.

Larger maps mean more terrain to build on, more good huts, more rival civs to deal, and trade with, more resources to trade, more time before you encounter a rival civ, more time spent conquering the world....
I would recommend you play the next size word up, and make your decision based on whether you enjoyed all that a larger world has to offer or not.
I does mean the turns take longer, and you have more units and cities to manage, which is why some steer away from the largest (thirty something civs) worlds.
