I've been playing Civ 4 for awhile, I can beat prince on virtually any map with nearly any leader; and many monarch games (though I normally have to be playing on a "good" map for me with a leader I'm good with).
That said, I have some pretty noobish questions that I was wondering some of you could help me with.
First, is there a guide anywhere on exactly what the BtS map types tend to generate? I've looked at a few examples of each in world builder, but would be nice to have a guide like the one for civ4 vanilla linked to on the civfanatics main page.
Secondly, is there a way to choose a random map script? I normally open the tab, randomly move the mouse wheel around and click on one. It's awkward having to block out the whole bottom left part of the screen though so I can avoid some of the map type options that give it away. I just like the initial fog of war representing how things probably must've felt for leaders of old-world civilizations (not knowing the general shape of the world).
Lastly, I'm sure people are very familiar with significant differences in how the AI performs on various maps. For instance, in civ 4 vanilla, terra was at least one, probably two difficulty levels too easy. The AI would always wait a long time before teching astronomy. I notice that this has improved in BtS, but it's still at least one level of difficulty easier than continents, or pangaea. Has anyone posted a guide that compares map types by relative difficulty? I'd do it, but I have limited experience with types other than big+small, pangaea, continents, and terra.
Anyway, thanks for any insight you guys can provide.
