Why is is so difficult to trade maps with the computer? I only manage to do it with allied.

they have to be entusiastic or worshipfull and have a peace treaty made!
ussualy you have to give them some tec before they will trade maps!

Might take a little more to get to worshipful if you are using MGE or UCC.Then check the attitude next turn.You'll see evidence of a major bug.

(There's an almost identical thread to this one on General Discussion but I'll post this bit again.)

Anyway... yes it's easy to exchange maps - as other civheads on this thread have already said.

But here's a tip that will get you most of the map you want without giving anything away. It just won't stay on the screen for more than a turn and it isn't detailed. Still, it's free...

Have a spy go investigate a city. While she's there, click on the "Map" button, and you see the world - in summary - as that civ sees it. That can save an awful lot of sailing and you keep your techs to yourself!

Give them 2 techs and they'll trade. Also on Emperor Deity levels you can gets lots of gold from the AI!
