~~ Masquerade Mafia ~~

And if you had followed the rules and not continually talked to/threatened me IRL, you wouldn't have known any of that and the disaster would have still happened. :p

Ah yes, my post condemning Nictel. Such a wonderful pile of BS designed to direct attention away from Catharsis. I'm just lucky he's so easy to lynch. :p I think I served my purpose of distracting attention from Catharsis well.

As to why we bandwagoned Omega, well, I noticed at the time that there were 4 votes on 4 seperate people, one on Catharsis. I coudn't find a good reason to bandwagon anybody else, and we needed to get people's attention away from Catharsis. And it's not like Omega was helping us much with his random, unexplained voting and little activity, or his refusal to communicate in our quicktopic thread or do much in our PM's to him. Basically, it was kill the nearly-useless Omega to save the all-important Catharsis. I actually thought it would be easy given how he was acting. But no, you bandwagoned me instead and random.org and Love got both of us killed.

:mwaha:

Damnit! I changed my scan from catharsis to choxorn, which got the mafia anyway... but I later thought that cat was innocent :gripe:

stupid me.

Damn, i almost got Catharsis in the beginning with that bird thing.

I remained very suspicious towards Cath after killfire and Civplayah went out of their way to accuse him. Even more so when Cath claimed to be a protecter yet not getting killed my the mafia. But tbh the game kept me guessing till the end.

Great game Runner! Well played mafia!

Catharsis

:p:D

Not only you, but me as well. Seriously, and I was also mafia the time before that, and in sprig's MiniNOTW.

I vote for Nictel... ordinarily I'd at least try to check the veracity of choxorn's theory regarding his play in the last two NotWs, but it's late and I'm tired and I'll do it in the morning, stop bugging me. :p

WAIT A MINUTE.

I can't vote for choxorn because "he would never be a baddie three times in a row"
But you can all vote for me because I am "behaving like a baddie" and as such am in fact a baddie three times in a row?!

I can't believe none of you even remotely caught on to that.

Anyway great job choxorn lynching me with my own accusation: "I can't be mafia three times in a row but you can!"

Well played and great game! :D

Good game to the mafia! Love, why didn't you speak up that you were Jayden Hadel and Raven Mask? My whole analysis was predicated on the idea that Raven Mask was the baddie, if you look at it.
So all we actually had this game was voting patterns and the Red Mask to go on?

Pretty much, although while the first reference to the raven was completely accidental, the second was there to point towards Catharsis more, since you guys had almost nailed him the first time :)

Also, I can't say I expected Catharsis to just claim an ability like that. He got very lucky that aspie wasn't active in that since I'm sure two roleblockers would have raised some eyebrows :p

Anyway great job choxorn lynching me with my own accusation: "I can't be mafia three times in a row but you can!"

Yeah, you can be the mafia twenty times in a row. :p

Well speaking up and say that i was a doctor and the biggest enemy to the mafia would get them on my throat big time. I probably would have said something if you guys were about to lynch a known innocent...

I'd quite like to post the quicktopic, but would like choxorn's permission to do so. If he agrees then he can do it. (Don't need Omega's, he never posted on there.)

Some comments:

And it's not like Omega was helping us much with his random, unexplained voting and little activity, or his refusal to communicate in our quicktopic thread or do much in our PM's to him.

Y'know, I think Omega might well have worked stuff out that we hadn't, but was keeping very quiet about it (because 'QuickTopic is for squares' of course - that was one of the weirdest PMs I've ever received). Our original plan for the endgame was to under no circumstances accuse Love, because if I died (which I was expecting to) people could link Love to the 'Telltale Heart' reference in the same way that they linked me to 'The Raven', so we needed him kept alive.

Naturally, Omega accuses Love straight away. But it turns out that Love was the most threatening character in the endgame, and the planned bandwagon on Omega forced us to infect Love instead of our planned infection (Seon), so he really helped us out there, it turns out. He's probably from the future or something.

Even more so when Cath claimed to be a protecter yet not getting killed my the mafia.

"Oh really, that makes me suspicious, does it? Take a look around you, Snerk, and tell me how many people have been nightkilled so far. We aren't dealing with a standard mafia enemy here, Snerk, and you know that very well, don't you! I know it 'cause I can count the number of night kills on one finger. *raises middle finger at Snerk*"

That's what I would've said. That would have definitely got me killed.

You had us scrambling to get rid of you when you voted for choxorn without explanation. We assumed that the man in the peacock hat shouting at Keir Satchel in the first update was a prophet who had scanned chox, and were on the lookout for anyone who voted for him - hence our desperate attempts to get you lynched and out of the way, although the planned second-day lynch didn't work out because I stupidly accused civplayah (who turned out to be the peacock-hat man, so all's well that ends well).

So all we actually had this game was voting patterns and the Red Mask to go on?

Well, there were three prophets (although one was inactive). And the red mask was a pretty big clue, I thought. Red mask, Masque of the Red Death, red blood on sprig's face when he died - all clues that I was really afraid someone would eventually pick up on.

Also, I can't say I expected Catharsis to just claim an ability like that. He got very lucky that aspie wasn't active in that since I'm sure two roleblockers would have raised some eyebrows :p

I wasn't claiming roleblocker dangit! That's two people who've said I claimed roleblocker to add to one who said I claimed prophet... what I was claiming was doctor. But I was tiptoeing around the word doctor because in a game where the enemy is a disease, there was bound to be one of some description somewhere (and there was - Love). Also I claimed doctor in the last game, too, truthfully that time, but since people were being lynched for claiming that they couldn't be mafia twice in a row, it wouldn't have been wise to bring that up.

The ability claim was the only thing I could have done to keep Team Red Death in the game. I'd already tried to shrug off the accusations (because they were mostly based on the raven thing, which was 'raven' mad) and even used that coffee smiley, but people weren't biting. And I wasn't going to leave choxorn and Omega to survive, like, eight straight lynchvotes without a kill ability.

BTW this is the first time I've claimed a false ability. Even in ATPG's Monty Python mafia, where I was a serial killer, the ability I claimed was correct ('unkillable', not 'serial killer', I'm not that stupid). It's tiring and unpleasant and I hope not to have to do it again for some time.

Well speaking up and say that i was a doctor and the biggest enemy to the mafia would get them on my throat big time. I probably would have said something if you guys were about to lynch a known innocent...

We had already infected you by that time. :mwaha:

But i'll buy your protector story for now. Unvote catharsis, vote Civplayah. Random vote is random, sorry.
/facepalm
This tipped the tally from Catharsis to Civplayah

Catharsis

Either kill fire knows something that i don't, or his PG is to kill catharsis. Does this game have PGs?
Anyway, if catharsis gets killed and turns out to be the protector, kill fire gets offed next day.
Mental note: Trust killfire. :p

..Catharsis and Choxorn seem plausible. But really i dunno.
More mental note: Listen to gut feeling.

"Oh really, that makes me suspicious, does it? Take a look around you, Snerk, and tell me how many people have been nightkilled so far. We aren't dealing with a standard mafia enemy here, Snerk, and you know that very well, don't you! I know it 'cause I can count the number of night kills on one finger.[/I]"
Heh, TBH i was very lazy in this game and i never got around to figure out how the mafia/night killing worked in this game. Mostly due to an annoying problems i have with my hands right now that strictly limits my forum time. Very annoying.
*raises middle finger at Snerk*

Cathaaaaaaaaarsis!! :mad::mad:
/shakes fist at sky

Good job mafia. You've done it again. ;)

So for the next thread, may I host it?

Spoiler :
If I do get to host it, how about we bring back the rhyming mafia game for a third rotation?

The last rhyme mafia game was great, tons of fun. I'll probably have to give this one a miss, but i'll be sure to lurk. :)

Oh yes, we definitely need Rhyme Mafia III. :D

By 'the next thread', electric, do you mean after Camikaze's game has finished, or as a smaller game running alongside his?

As do I. :D

And Catharsis, since Camikaze's game will be running for quite some time, I was hoping for a smaller game running parallel to his. So the second one.

Well, it seems that the response is generaly positive. How about I pop up a new game tommorow?

Go ahead, electric.

I'd quite like to post the quicktopic, but would like choxorn's permission to do so. If he agrees then he can do it. (Don't need Omega's, he never posted on there.)

Altight. Here is the quicktopic thread. As you can see, we were using fake names- Catharsis is "Betty Crocker", I am "Threebie", and Omega was supposed to be "Wedge".

But it turns out that Love was the most threatening character in the endgame, and the planned bandwagon on Omega forced us to infect Love instead of our planned infection (Seon), so he really helped us out there, it turns out. He's probably from the future or something.

Yeah- ironically, in being unhelpful, he helped us to win the game.

Yeah- then we found out it was just civplayah and me voting for each other.

We also thought that you talking to sprig was him being infected and not him investigating you.

Lastly, a word on kill fire's WOG. If you can't tell from the quicktopic or what I've already posted, he was breaking the "Don't talk out of thread" rule and talking to me IRL. At the end of day 2, he kept bugging me to lynch Catharsis, and my attempts to give a reason for why I wasn't going to that didn't make him stop. He said he suspected us both, and then asked to see my role PM. When I told him no, he claimed I didn't have a problem with it in sprig's Snakes and Foxes game over at the .org. I told him that that was because I didn't yet know he was playing until after I opened it up, and then quickly hid it when he told me he had replaced rhawn. Still, he wouldn't stop bugging me, and even threatened to look at my Role PM if I didn't comply. :gripe: I think he was only joking now, but still, that was just not fair. So I finally said yes, and posted that vote of Catharsis at the end only because I knew it wouldn't matter. I asked CCRunner to WOG him for this crap, and kill fire was given a warning. Then, a day later, we somehow ended up talking about the game again, and he guessed a surprising amount about the mechanics- how resistance worked, that people were being disease-killed, and even correctly guessed the identity of all 3 of the mafia. He claims he was joking around, which is possible, but given that he likes lying, I at this point had become afraid he'd actually looked at my role PM, and again asked CCRunner to WOG him, and he was WOG'ed.

A note to kill fire- you may have just been joking, but Looking at, or even threatening to look at, my role PM, or any of my PM's for that matter, is not a fair tactic. Got it? So don't do it again. I don't do it to you, do I? And for that matter, let's just not talk much IRL about the mafia games unless we both know we're on the same team, okay? It just leads to disaster like here. Why do you think I'm always targeting you on one of the first few nights when I'm the mafia? BECAUSE I DON'T WANT SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO HAPPEN.
