Did some research on your list (not all of them, but mostly the 'not reported' ones), and found some updates.

If you are going to include accidents like this, how about carbon monoxide poisoning? Family of 7 dead from carbon monoxide poisoning. Make a difference if it came from the vehicle in garage or from a faulty furnace? (not known right now which was the cause)

Again, many thanks to BamSpeedy. Most of the corrections had already been done. The "Official" list is on Reddit at:

https://old.reddit.com/r/lists/comments/l4qxtn/mass_killings_in_the_united_states_2021/

The finalized lists for previous years are also there. The list that appears here are really sort of my notes added here as the year moves along. There are additions and deletions, but Reddit lets me edit the whole list in real time.

But you did find a deletion I missed and a very welcome addition. I find it remarkable I can still miss cases.

As to which cases are listed, the rule has evolved to "by any criminal means, where the killer was charged or would have been charged had he lived." It was a fight to get to this point. This is not a list of mass shootings, or mass stabbings. It is an attempt at making a unique list of all mass killings.

Again, I am on vacation at the moment and I hope to have the Reddit list corrected by the end of the year. Then on to 2022. We all pray for less work next year.

Can we get a final summary of the year, might we compare it to your other compendiums of death?
