I am wondering if you will be able to upgrade all of the same unit at once in civ4. So instead of upgrading one rifleman at a time which takes for ever when you have about a hundred, and makes it even worse when that unit can be upgrading 5 or 6 times.

if we are having significantly less cities, i'd think our armies would be a lot smaller too ?!??!

They have to be in a city to be upgraded though right?
Yes you need a barracks or dry dock or airport.

I think it was [shift]u to upgrade all units of the same type. And yes, they have to be in a city, a city with a barracks.

You know, maybe I'm in the minority, but from what I understand huge armies & empires are still possible. The only difference that I can tell is that they're more expensive to maintain, and that smaller empires can be equally competitive.

That was a great strat in Civ 3. Building 20 warriors then upgrading them. Alot faster than waiting to build 20 of the better units. I think thats what he's asking if you can still do.

IMO i hope you can't. It was a bit of an exploit in civ3.

Well if you can upgrade one unit, then you can upgrade 20. The question is whether it will be micromanagement, or simplified. And if they actually ADD micromanagement that they had eliminated in Civ 3 I'd consider not buying, until a patch puts it in.

Given how much they've said about reducing micromanagment I'm sure this feature is in.
