Math03: OCCC

Can I request a ruling, Mathias? It's been over a week since turns have been played. D seems to be having PC problems... Shall BB just take it? If Dis comes back soon it can be a swap...

I'm going to Bulgaria from the 21st to the 28th and it'd be nice to bag a set of turns before that...

Go for it, BB

Very well,

(0) - Looks okay. I rush a cav. Hordes of slaves with little to do...

Babs move around but doesn't do much.

(1) - Kill 2 longbows, 1 MI and a pike. Heal the rest of the troops. Rush another cav. Qianlong arrives in Beijing but there's nothing really reasonable to use him for.

Nothing whatsoever happens.

(2) - Rush cav. Maneouvre and heal.

We lose a cav to bab AC's, we kill one and redline the other. Also lose an incense colony to barbs.

(3) - Round up barbs, rebuild colony. Also kill the rouge AC. Attack Pisae but having bad RNG luck. There's a wounded spear left, we lost one cav. Attack and destroy Samarra, no losses. Rush cav.

See some bab knights move around.

(4) - Kill bab knight and MI. Kill spear in Pisae .. damn, there's another there. Rush cav.

Crap, lose two cavs to knights coming out of the fog. :(

(5) - Destroy Pisae.

Nothing happens.

(6) Attack and destroy Akkad.

Lose that incense again. :(

(7) Kill barbs... maneuvre towards Nineveh.

These barbs are damn annoying. Where do they come from? This is the third time they take out that incense colony.

(8) Look around after barb camp. Kill barbs with vengeful anger. Move into striking distance of Nineveh and Viroconium.

Korea has started settling again. :crazyeye:

(9) - Beijing builds cav. Rush the next one. Kill the ******* barb camp. Attack and destroy Nineveh (redline two cavs). Kill one of the spears in Viroconium.

Nothing. Well, lose a spice colony...

(10) - Destroy Viroconium.

Well, it's just slaughter really. Keep razing cities, rushing cavs whenever possible. Probably want a boat of some sort soon to get to that island. Rebuild the silks colony in the east next turn!

Edit: I'll be back thursday next week. I'll be participating in the international mathematics competition. Wish me luck. :p

Ok, got it. Sounds good. Play tonight or tomorrow. If one of the skipped shows up and can play earlier, though, maybe they can go first...

The enemy of the north: Babylon...
First we took out Eulbar, then we pillaged their iron. They counterattacked at the iron with an AC, which we managed to hold off.
The next two turns were mostly healing and positioning, and picking off units; that's 1365-1370.
Then we hit Babylon: kill 3 pikes and a spear, with one retreat and no losses. One of the wins was flawless, and I bring up another healed elite. On the next turn we take out a pike and AC, leaving a unfortified spear...take a chance on a 3/5 cav, and we win! We burn Babylon (and the ToZ) in 1380AD.
They managed to get a few MDI's and pikes behind us, heading after our slaves and colonies. Barb hunting cavs are helped by cavs heading toward the front, plugging the hole; we lost a few slaves and outposts in the process, though.
Besides that, it's just mechanical healing and burning: Shuruppak, Ellipi, and Nippur. Half their core is now gone. :)

The enemy of the south: Korea...
In 1360, the Koreans found Sippar next to one of our salt colonies. We declare immediately; we don't want them to have salt, ever. We burn Sippar that turn. :)
We had only two cavs in the area, and it takes a bit of time to bring more over there. But eventually we burn Tokch'on too. *I scout out Chinje, and it has a musket inside*, so I pull back while we heal in our fortress.

That's it, total kill ratio: 38-2. Not bad, eh? We built 6 cavs in that time, for a net gain of 4.

There are two annoying Korean cities in the north; Berlin has at least 2 spears inside, one elite. Things will get simpler when they are gone.

Babylon has no resources available, and Korea has only horses.

We have 7 very wounded cavs at the Bab front, 6 mostly healed at the Korean front, 4 around Berlin, and a 5 around either on barb duty or heading to the front. I guess we might want to retreat the northern cavs to the mountains for safer healing. The Babs are coming with longbows, which can easily pick off our cavs if we aren't careful. New cav next turn...

the save

Hey guys; managed to get my computer fixed but the internet will not be connected up at home for a few weeks. Luckily, thanks to the joys of abusing the free internet at work I can get the saves there and still play. But, of course I won't be able to pick up the files on weekends so if my turn comes up then just skip, wait, or swap, I really don't mind.

We now return to your regulary scheduled Succession Game...

Looks good. Got it.

I wasn't able to do much against Babylon. I kept having to attack their units in the open with 3/5 elites, not having time to fully heal. I did manage one coordinated attack, and burned Eridu. Reinforcements are on the way now, as I finally was able to take down Berlin and Konigsberg in 1440. Berlin was just a pain, and barbarians delayed an attack on Konigsberg.

I brought the trebuchets up to assist an attack on Chinje, but the turn before I attacked, the musketman left the city! The two spearmen, one unfortified, didn't put up much of a fight. I killed the musketman, a longbowman, and a spearman who was escorting a settler, the stepped out to heal before marching on Seoul. The attack on Seoul went very well. I killed two musketmen, redlined a third, then killed three spearmen. The following turn our trebuchets took the defender down to 2 hp, but we still lost another cav before destroying Sun Tzu's and the recently completed Sistine Chapel.

I cleared at least 8 camps and built 6 new cavalry. We lost a total of 6, though, so no gain. I upgraded our swordsman when I saw a caravel approaching, then laughed when Korea unloaded a lone longbowman.

commodofied hasn't posted since the 12th, when he requested a skip, so...

Hmm... that 'free internet at work' thing must not be going so well...

TheBB is in Bulgaria, so I guess it's you, Mach.

Well, Disenfranchised logged in and posted in another thread today, so I guess he just didn't look...

Got it, play tonight.

I had disgustingly lucky turns. Killing pikes with elite cavs is pretty easy, granted, but I didn't have a single loss. :) Built a pair of caravels, which are heading over toward the island. Also built 3 new cavs.

Sorry, I'm too tired today to make a detailed turnlog. This one would take awhile to put together, since it was so action packed... Managed to sweep the mainland clear of enemy cities: burned Ch'ongfu, Nimrud, Uruk, Zariqum, P'yongyang, Zamua, Inch'on, Kaesong, Taejon, Namp'o, Paegam, and Byzantium by 1485AD. Total ratio: 40-0, by my count.

Sorry, I think I sent the caravels in the wrong direction -- we haven't explored the island yet, but I think there's a good chance we could have sent the caravels over there safely by heading west. I went east instead, my bad. It's too late to turn back now, though...

Maybe next player might want to take some extra turns, because the next few are going to be really boring, just waiting for those caravels to get over there, and holding off barbs.

On the screenshot I put a little green dot, approximately where the caravels are now.

I can't play until tomorrow, so go ahead with it Dis. It will take 10 turns for our caravels to get around to the island, so feel free to play 20 turns.

Ok, I'm back now, but by the looks of it we're not coming around to me again...

This was much easier than I had thought.

Okay I decide to play 20 turns then, or as it turns out 16 turns...

There are 2 Bab cities on that Island and 4 Korean, neither have iron - cakewalk?

Destroyed while waiting:
21 Barb camps (allowing me to short rush every cav we build)
1 Korean Landing

Ships arrive in 1550AD (turn 10)
Ferry across 6 Cavs, then 5 cavs

Razed (Cav's verses spears and longbows  ):
Haeju (Bab) 1560
Bab Capital 1565 (no more babylonians)
Chonju (Korea) 1565
Sokch'o (korea) 1570

Koreans start Smiths :mischief: in 1570

Suwon in 1575

And... (Drumroll)

Taega the last korean city in 1580AD destroying the Fragile Koreans and I do belive, winning the game.

Go us! :goodjob:

Heres the save for the final turn.

Woo! Nice game guys, this was much easier than I thought it would be as well. I think we got pretty lucky in denying them resources, especially salt in the end. I tried starting up a solo game like this at one point, and did ok for awhile but lost when my cavs started dying at a rediculous rate to muskets and jumbos...

Thanks for the game, Mathias, it was a lot of fun. [party]
