I was having the choppy video/sound problem along with graphics glitches and CTD's. I updated the nVidia drivers to the latest and that helped except for the video/sound issues. On a hunch, I checked and found my SB drivers were way old. After I updated the SB card drivers, the game is playing with no problems that I can see. I'm into 600 BC in an enormous map and so far all is OK. Game is really fun! Graphics are excellent and immersive.
