19 Caravels?

I'll look at it and play tomorrow.

regards

Ted

Hmmm, I did not sign any MA for gpt, the Greeks *payed* us gpt for Democracy and an MA. I guess that will hurt your rep too. :( I should have just given them Demo for the MA straight. I told you those where not my best turns, sorry Mad. I also knew I left you in a very difficult situation... so don't feel bad, you wanted this to be a challenge, no? :D

19 Caravels and a catapult. Should come in handy :D
We also have a fortress a couple of tiles from the capital....which is nice. Never Seen one before.

I really have trouble working out what constitutes a broken gpt deal and what doesn't. Nothing I've ever read has been completely correct. I am fine with getting an *attitude* hit for breaking an MA. It's correct. But If I am being paid gpt for an MA the AI loses nothing if I break it so I should not get a *rep* hit for that. I should certainly be able to pay gpt in trades. I am going to go through the turn logs to try to get to the bottom of it. I am really cheesed off.

It certainly wasn't you fault Space, it was mine.

Notes
I think we should stay in builder mode until we've railed our territory
We need lots more workers to rail our territory - keep an eye out for when cities reach their pop limit or are at zero growth.
There are 2 Galleons in Shiraz, 2 in Ur, 2 in Basra, 2 in Najran, 1 in Kish & 4 Caravels in Muscat. There are a couple more Caravels dotted around.
I stationed some Ansars along the Greek border (just in case) and moved the rest to cover most of our main continent.
I managed to steal another tech - from Greece this time :)
We were beaten to Smith's by 1 turn - Medina wasn't optimised for max shields. I managed to shave 1 turn off at the beginning on my turn but it wasn't enough :(
I haven't upgraded anything other than Caravels - I thought this could wait until we had a real need for Cavalry.
I mostly irrigated after clearing to get the towns up in size as quickly as possible.
Antalya is ready for Ironworks after the Market.
We are on par or ahead on tech with everyone.

The save is > here < (zipped)

I nearly decided to make Bursa the new capital until I spotted the Iron & Coal at Antalya :D

Ted

Well we are certainly on our way.

Ted:When I played my set I found that a fast, high risk tech steal was 1 - 200g cheaper than just buying it. I'm surprised you were willing to risk our fledgling democracys peaceful status on a tech steal. I always thought that it was only worth it for a monopoly tech that you must have like for an SS part or the UN or Scientific method or such. Great job as always though, and I always preferred Antalya as the palace site.

Hooray you're next in the jungle chopping rotation. :)

You could well be right about the savings MB but then I wouldn't have the thrill of pressing the button to see if I'd stolen a tech or started a war :D

Ted

I had intended to play a full 10 turns, but I've suddenly come down with a nasty flu. I have a hard time just breathing right now, so Civ is a bit hard to play for me at the moment.
So I only have 5 turns.

Pre-turn: Yay, I'm glad to see that we're not at war for once.

1330 AD: Aztecs and Persia sign peace treaty.
Mecca Courthouse -> Worker, Medina Library -> Palace (ToE prebuild, maybe?)
Damascus Worker -> Courthouse, Fustat Worker -> Worker, Nimrud Worker -> Market.

1335: Greece and Persia sign peace treaty.
Mecca Worker -> Worker, Baghdad Library -> Colosseum, Fustat Worker-> Courthouse
Yamama Library -> Worker, Kolhapur Courthouse -> Market
Antalya Market -> Iron Works!, Mosul Cathedral -> Colosseum
Upgrade a few Pikes here and there to improve defense.

1340: Mecca Worker -> Library, Kufah Library -> Worker, Basra Colosseum -> Worker
Yamama Worker -> Worker, Bengal Market -> Courthouse, New Damascus Temple -> Market.

1345: Persia and Viks sign peace. Babs and Iroquois sign peace. Mongols and Iroquois sign peace.
Nineveh Courthouse -> Bank, Najran Library ->Worker, Kufah Worker -> Colosseum
Basra Worker -> Worker, Aden Library -> Worker, Yamama Library -> Colosseum
Fez Market -> Courthouse, Merw Market -> Courthouse, Kish Harbor -> Courthouse.

1350: India and Persia sign peace treaty.
Najran Worker -> Courthouse, Basra Worker -> Cathedral
Uskudar Aqueduct -> market, Aden Worker -> Worker, Mansura Library -> Colosseum

Iron Works is due in 10, by the way. You can MM it up to 9 if you want, but that would slow the city's growth.

Here's the save:

I looked at the save, we in great shape. Hooray :goodjob:, I can imagine a cold doesn't help with all those cities to manage :crazyeye:

We might want to switch some corrupt cities to worker production only. We still need a lot of them. This game is going to get one hell of a Firaxis score...

Got it I'll probably play it sometime today.

You can say that again.

At last we have our second core up and running. After some improvements, they should be able to pump out the shields.

I breathed a sigh of relief when I discovered we finally got that elusive GL (how many battles did it take?) to rush our palace. I became elated when I discovered we could build the Iron Works there too. We now have this game well in hand. Our biggest problem may be purchasing/stealing the techs we need to build the SS.

Keep it rollin' vbraun.

I'm bumping this, just to remind vbraun that his turnlog is overdue...;)

In an effort to get this particular ball rolling again I am going to enforce the 24hr "got it" clause and skip Brewster on this rotation.

Space: you are now UP.
