I'd like to use this for the Planetfall Great Doctor. However with frozen animations on the unit still looks like a female settler. Is there a way to make the medic show up as a medic with frozen animations as well?

if you don´t care that even when you play without animation the unit has an animation, copy the female_settler animation (all files: kfm, kf and female_settler.nif) to the medic folder and link to the copied animation (at least by my test now it worked).

Given that the purpose of frozen animations is not having animations (to increase performance), that does not sound like a satisfactory solution.

but perhaps adding also new freeze nif in this folder will than also resolve this problem ... (not tested)

I give to this Unit a "reserve" AI attitude, don't know if that works, and give it a Capture>UNITCLASS_WORKER, and separate the promotions like : Medic only for Gunpowder, and add a new Promotion "Repare" only for Armored and Naval, Siege, Helicopter Units.

I would like to suggest something.
Why not make the medic taking the explorer as a base. The explorer has some stuff that the medic could need. It only defends, has better movement and sight.

And also I would like to add something else. Just a reskin of the medic...only making her a bit more of a hearbreaker. I am not sure if to upload it to the downloads database since I wasn't really planning on making her. So, here she is

her shirt is based on the ones that the nurses fom silent hill wear. I don't consider it a well-done unit though. I wanted to make the skirt shorter by modifying the alpha channel of the texture, but the model doesn't let me =P, her skirt is attached to her legs right below her knees
