Meh! Can't win... (bugged(?) save)

I can also confirm that re-naming the movie doesn't work, nor has updating the drivers for playing it.
Yeah, you have a problem with your system, I had a corrupted file. Re-installing fixed it.

Re-installing didn't fix it - nor did anything else anyone so far has suggested (SP2, Virus checker, Spyware detection, re-instal Civ, Memory test, benchmarking - nothing indicates what, if any, might be the problem).

Yep, forgot to mention, I did that too (and every movie plays okay). The SS movie just doesn't play at the end of games "of a certain [indeterminate but probably Standard] size". I also updated my video card drivers.

Which is why I'm suspecting DX (anyone know how to totally remove DX from your system so I can try 9.0b and 9.0c?)

I tend to play with all sounds off anyway, but that doesn't (shouldn't...) affect the movies. I have an SB Audigy, so no, not onboard sound.

Ding! That works, dunno why, but it does. I can live without the spaceship music, not as if I've never heard it before.

Now, try MapFinder to see if it works.

I just now realized that the intro movie and space ship movie crashes c3c on my PC too.. shows how many space victories I have done..
The intro movie seems to work most of the times, but not always.. but I had it disabled...
Seems on smaller maps space victory works, but trying space in the latest LK87 save gives a black screen with some beeping sounds followed by crash :p

Well whaddaya know... I don't quite understand how this fix fixed that too, but it has. I now have some nice maps to play with!

I'm so happy that it works! :bounce: Why am I so happy about it?;) I'm glad you ask....you see there I have been trying very hard to make MapFinder to work with a another piece of software (C3C) that isn't bug free. So whenever there is something wrong with C3C, MapFinder would naturally share the blame (probably because it's probably easier to blame Moonsinger than to blame Firaxis ;) ). Of course, Firaxis is probably saying the same thing too...whenever something is wrong with DirectX or Direct Sound or even with the OS, people will blame C3C but really those bugs belong to Microsoft or whoever.;) For the record, Firaxis put the blame on the "old code"...well, I sure hope that won't happen in Civ4.
