Hey all!
I know this 'slowdown' bug has already appeared before on the forums but I also was getting VM warnings from Windows, so I thought it best to submit this bug as per Chieftess's bug layout.
First of all I'll give my system specs then the bug report.
Machine: Asus A7N8X-X Motherboard, Athlon XP 2200+ (~1.8 GHZ), Winfast A6200, 512MB Ram @ 200mhz, game resolution 1024x768, Windows XP Pro-SP2, Virtual Memory- 700Mb Min, 2000Mb Max (yes! 2GB! and still Civ4 maxed out!
)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load Civ4.
2. Single Player > Custom Game.
3. Choose biggest map, epic game, all players etc. (i.e. a long game)
4. Play through until your in the Medieval Era and have a large portion of the map opened up.
5. Observe gamespeed after exchanging world map with other Civ or ending turn.
6. Save Game.
7. Quit to desktop and note VM size.
8. Clear the VM, Restart PC and load saved game.
9. Reapeat steps 5-7.
Observed Results:
After playing through until the medieval era gamespeed has large pauses whilst the VM is being read/written to (can be in excess of 5 minutes or more). When you quit to the desktop the VM is nearly maxed out with a Windows VM warning popup. This would indicate that either there is a memory leak or that the data written to the VM is not being dumped after use, resulting in the VM being maxed out.
Expected Result:
Civ4 should not have large pauses in gameplay as this hinders the users gaming experience. The use of the VM should be looked at and inspected for a possible memory leak.

One last thing, I actually increased the amount of Max VM I use from 1.5Gb to 2.0Gb and it ate up the extra 500Mb in a few minutes!!!
I think that should do it!
If anyone needs more info let me know!
