Has anyone ever played an MP game where two human-run civs created a mutually beneficial relationship? For example, The Greeks are in Republic/Democracy and they pump science and they gift-tech each new advance to the Romans, who are Communist/Fundy and they supply units to defend the Greek cities. the Greeks would have maybe one unit of their own in each city (because allied units cannot enter foreign cities) and the Romans would be in fortifications surrounding the Greek cities. Thus the Romans gain tech like a democracy while providing for the defense of the Greeks by sharing their large army with them. Also in Alliance, if an allied unit 'bumps' an allied city, it heals fully, thus getting quick healing for Roman defenders who are under attack.

Right, atawa, I think the two players in this arrangement should be very good friends in real life to ensure stability in the game. (like it should be agreed before you even start the game, that once the two civs meet, they will create this arrangement).

Ahhh, but Rexx, think of the converse. - would not the dual-civ become so powerful, that it could outstrip the other civs who are working alone, forcing THEM to come closer together to deal with the threat. Think about it: Fundy AND Democracy - the body and the brains, and each civ gets a turn to do stuff, when single civs get only one.

The way to beat it would be to attack the fundy part, I suppose, as their military would be stretched out - unless the cities of the 2 civs are intermingled...

Are you thinking about marrying the first female Civ player that you run across..Magnus? Remember somebody has to do the dishes & let out the cat. Otherwise it might get quite stinky !

Dogberry!

ummm, I reckon as long as she had her own computer and I let her win MP now and then, it could work out.

Not only have I used this strategy to keep a more powerful civ from getting too far ahead...I would be interested in setting up a game consisting of 3 two-person teams...to me this would make for some very interesting military clashes and a good deal of fun. I t could be done with friends or a blind draw...

get the cat a cat flap...

I want a gf who plays civ

seems to me that making such an arrangement before a game starts is nearly "cheating" - unless you informed everyone else in the game that you intended to play a certain way. otherwise, we have some assumptions about playing others in the game under "normal" circumstances (which could include an alliance, but not necessarily at the "marriage" level)
