Wow guys... really kicking some major @$$ here. In some ways, I'm glad life threw me a dumptruck of stuff, because I'd never have been able to pull off any of that still in the lineup.

Best of luck for the last few decades, although with the skill calibur here, luck really isn't a big issue :p

I love mechs so am going to shut down research until I upgrade all infantry to mechs in 3 turns hehe. No point using the great scientist for fiber optics until all that is done.

i'm really not good at pulling the trigger in this sort of situation and well taking my sweet time looking at our units.

I just spent about 2 mins hitting wait turn on the transports north west of neapolis.... I think we have a few units there....

leaving cash in the til so merz can pick the units to upgrade... I slacked off and only sent 4 modern armor 1 destroyer and 1 battleship up north to tyre, hope that's enough.


nw of neapolis is um, too many units.. I honestly could not tell you how many units are in that stack. lets just say more than 20...

to the sw of neapolis is well a managable amount of um 3x transports of modern armor and a submarine.

this is overkill yeah let me show you a little something...



We have mass transports finally and more on the way so we'll have a few extra to go around. There's a few stranded armors ranndomly where scowler accidentally built units on islands with no airport. can fish them out if you want, that simply wasn;t an option in my turn.

And if you think liq had a boring turnset, we'll I'm here to wash the blood off the driveways and trim the lawns. I love this sort of thing.

Let's check up on the space race first... hmm Mali has casings and thrusters done and is on the cockpit. Cyrus has just thrusters and casings, Egypt just casings.

So Mansa is just 4 parts away, ack... and he has both fiber optics and ecology. At first glance this looks worrying but the spy reveals that his tech rate is kinda slow. He still needs Robotics and a bunch of other crap.

Given that we need research nothing else the rest of the game I'll keep tech at 0. I'm also tweaking all the cities for Engineers and not Scientists.

I don't quite understand why everybody is on mech infantry.... we're going to be razing, not keeping these towns. Defense? When these finish I'm putting them on other units.

I declare. We're now at war with Mansa and Cyrus.

I'm rebasing our bombers near Mansa. They're mostly useless against Cyrus since he has so many jets and SAMs.

This is really screwed up... I find out AFTER I land the stack of armor SW of Neap that it's just transports and subs... and all MA. There is no arty, and no destroyers or battleships anywhere nearby that can knock down these city defenses! :smoke: I'll have to let this stack cool its heels for two turns while I bring down destroyers from the north.

But except for that, overall the setup was great. This is just sick:

mechs own for the very reason you used them for merz.

when combined with airports (innate medic from red cross owns if you can set it up), they form the core of defensive force second to none.

Though we didn;t see it here, mechs also add amazing durability to a stack of armor in the case of gunships.

Scowlers round attacking hc showed that as we lost alot of modern armor on counter attacks due to monotone stacks. In that case, infantry would have slowed him down, but since mechs move the same speed as armor, they are incredibly flexible.

Oh and to stress I'm not slamming on scowler :)

I was a little surprised we didn't keep his capital. Pentagon?
Oh well, I guess it doesn't change things long term anyway. It's not like we really need it anyway.

I noticed that in many places where we razed citis, the AI's came and planted brand new cities in the vacant (and worker improved) areas. How annoying.

I'll have a better look at the save tommorow and try to find where our armies are at. The Merz empire seem to be steamrolling over all opposition at this point.

I wonder what kind of victory condition we are working towards though. Dom? Or is our aim to just go to war with spaceship builders until time runs out?
 
Hmm, I forgot that mechs move at the same speed as tanks. If I had known that I would have included a few in each stack.

If there were more time left in the game, I would have kept some or all of the cities instead of razing them. But at this point I surmised that speed was more important. With only 40-odd turns remaining none of the new AI cities is going to have time to pump out anything of value after they are given a courthouse, harbor, forge, factory, lab, etc.

Victory condition is time. Just keep walking over everybody else's biggest cities. :)

I'll end my turn here, on a round number.
As it stands, Cyrus can be knocked out next turn by scowler. No more Persia to deal with.


MM has three cities remaining, his capital (which should fall in 2)

...and his two dinky towns in the SW part of the world.


I think MM is toast. Once we take his capital, just send a small force to finish off his two loser towns, and he will be removed from the spacerace screen so we can see what we're dealing with.

Qin is building spaceship parts, but he takes so long to build anything that he's hopeless. I've started moving forces towards Hatty's empire, but most of our forces are in the east, not the west. Hatty is weak on the ground, but does have a navy.
Do we start a new war with Hatty? It will take some time to shift units in that direction. I've started a slow build-up at Ravenna, we have battleships in the area, we just need transports now. We can probably spare a few from our war with MM. Besides, once we take MM's capital, the majority of those units/naval forces can head NE towards Hatty's homeland.


At this point, once Cyrus and MM are toast, I don't think we have anyone who can attempt to build the spaceship in time. Unless Cathy has been busy... (which is why wiping out MM is important, to see who our biggest threat is now.

I still don't think Cathy's built Apollo yet (judging from the last time I checked the National Projects list in the Demo window).
 
Just to let you know (I don't think it showed up), Mecca is building the Manhattan Project. Should be done by the end of Scowlers turn, and we might be able to build a few nukes to soften up our next targets and punch through anyone we happen to be at war with at the time.
* So don't use the UN to broker a non-proliferation treaty, because we want to proliferate ourselves*

And it looks like Merz will be playing the final turns of his own SG. Kind of poetic, don't you think Merz?

totally bizzare game though, so little food(farms) and hammers (and horses!) on this map. Tech and production was so stunted for all of us, well until saladin donated mecca to us!

As for saladin, we all must thank him for being such a gimp and donating Mecca to us.

What a freaking powerhouse that town is. On a map where some cities have one hammer innate, Mecca looms above all.

have a feeling my turn after scowlers will be 10x 'next turns'.
