yes i do, does it let you grow to a metro, i didn't know that. now i learned something new, next time i will build it in my capital city instead of other city, thanks

No guessing about it. In C3C, Shakespeare's Theater acts as a hospital.

You could save it for your capital, but I like building it in a high production city. This isn't always the capital, but usually close.

my god, why are there all those fortresses?

Don't fortresses make it impossible to build terrain improvements on that tile? If so, why are you making so many fortresses? Fortresses around you're borders, I can understand, but in you're territory? :hmm: :dubious:

@The Omega: look at CIV2.jpg in the first post. There is a fortress on the mined mountain gem. A fortress doesn't affect terrain improvements.

I noticed that too, the only time I believe that you need those fortresses is when you are at war with someone and your borders are connected by a tiny connection between continents. Or if you inhabit a tiny island and its in danger of being attacked then you put them all over ther island and have units stationed so that only weak units (like marines) can attack. ;)

Those fortresses would also make it difficult to attack enemies that are next to your city. They would get a defense bonus

yes i know, but the enemy would never get that far. my empire is too large and the border is well defended, in one city i have 30 riders garrsioned. the reason that i have so many fortress is because i have nothing for my worker to do, i have road mine and irrgation i all of my cities, and until steam power, all my workers are free.

You could form them into large gangs. Plant trees on a tile, chop them for the ten free shields and then redo the previous improvements all in one turn. 10 or 20 extra shields in one turn can really give a quick boost to a corrupt city in finishing an improvement.

You only get the bonus from the first forest. Anything after that and you are just chopping wood. If I am wrong, please someone correct me with proof.

good idea, i never thought of that. i rarely plant forest and only cut them when i have to. thanks. i just got steam power, and i am now building my rail road. so i will leave the fort building to my crusades. this game is going pretty well, in the start my cap has a river, two cattle and two silk in its work radius, it became the settler factory of my empire, even in emperor difficulty, i was able to maintain my tech research with the al. but i have no iron, the cloest iron is deep inside my enemy germany's territory. my first war i have to fight with archers and horse man vs swordsman. but i was lucky enought to beat them, i had lots of horse man and i went around the swordsman to avoid head on combat. i capture quite a few of germany cities and the iron, which turned outs to be 1 of the 3 iron on my continent. after that i am the biggest empire on my continent and the game was pretty much over, i continue to expand and attack my neighbour. and as you can see, my empire is now the biggest

This is correct. You only get the 10 shields from the first forest.
