Micro Challenge II

Spoiler :
One detail is still a bit of a mystery for me. After looking at the video solutions I only have a rather unclear idea about the switch from the 3-food tile to the 2-food+1hammer tile. I am assuming that the extra food would be wasted in the whip (not saved by the granary) so it is simply better to use it as a hammer than as a food. Is this correct? Anyone care to spell this out in detail?

Spoiler :
2 things
1. It allows to whip the granary 2 turns earlier
2. Since the granary can be whipped earlier, then you get more food out of it before the growth. It's a turn-by-turn storage, so the surplus gets dumped into the granary each turn.

Want numbers or is this sufficient?

Oh, I get it. It isn't about the food it is about the hammers. No, that's not right, it is about using hammers at the precise moment necessary to earn you back more food than you lose by choosing for the hammer tile instead of the 3F tile.

If I understand you correctly, switching to the 2F1H tile allows you to get enough hammers into the granary build to be able to whip it earlier which means more food saved (earlier build date allows longer period of food collection). So passing on the food before the granary is paid back by saving more after the granary is built. I need to go back and run through this again to make sure I really get it down to the last slice of bread.

I guess I don't need numbers, if it isn't 100% clear after running through it again I'll let you know, thanks.

I do have one question for you masters though:

This one was hard as, I only got it with @nona_mouse's video.

Also it seems going with the T025 decision of working the 3:food: tile or the 2:food:1:hammers: is the difference between having 14:food: and 16:food: by T037. You can do it both ways, it seems counter-intuitive.

I would be interested in seeing the math if anyone still gets off on this kind of stuff and feels like explaining it to a noob.
