Microsoft Visual C++ error

Hi guys, I enjoy this mod a lot. I would say this is the civ I've always been dreaming about.
But I face some errors. The most annoying is Debug error Microsoft Visual C++. I can only make 1 turn and after while loading 2 turn it always gives me this error with "This application has requested to close it in unusual way". This ruins tha game. I tried to install Visuall C++ 2005 and 2008 with SP1 but it the same with them. Any ideas how to make it work?

Also my game always crashes to the desktop when I try to enter science or government menus and any menus in the upper right corner. I suppose some memory allocation problem because I dont go more than 1,7 Gb of memory at any time and I'm in ancient era. My guess is the application cannot see more tham 2 Gb? Can you help please? I want to play it so bad.

I am running Windows 8.1 with 8 Gb RAM and ASUS Radeon graphical card HD 7850.

Are you trying to compile a new dll? Perhaps so you can debug the other mentioned issue? (Note: a steam install of the game apparently does NOT work with the mod to be able to successful run a debug dll. For whatever reason.)

On that other matter, 1st make sure you're working with a fully updated SVN version. Then if you have a crash spot, upload the save here. Can't always promise I can figure out everything of course. I'm not one of the master programmers that once worked on the mod. But I can take a look and if its within my ability I'll do what I can.

You don't say which version of windows you are using. On windows 98 you need to turn on the 3gb switch. iirc it is on by default in operating systems after that.

No... don't worry about trying to compile the dll. I was going off you saying you were downloading VS which should be entirely unnecessary for you to just run the game.

If you're getting a crash, take the following steps:
1) Checkout the SVN download of the game. (This will at first take you right up to the most current version of the mod.)

2) If still getting a crash, follow the instructions in the Bugs and Crashes thread.

I dont think he has a good downloaded version??
