Middle-Earth: Lord of the Mods (Private Beta I)

Well, this IS the Beta thread, and seeing as we're Beta-less, there's not much to talk about.
Pushy, aren't you ;)

Actually I've hit a SNAFU. The popHeads are out of order, and that's a big deal, seeing as how I've added 15 of them. No one wants their Dwarf City Guard looking like an Orc. Can anyone help me out here?

mrtn, if you don't want to do it, then I could do the pop heads.

Just PM me the files or something.

I'll also need to know which LOTR culture groups replaced which real culture groups e.g. Orcs replaced Asians, Dwarves --> Mediterranean, or whatever along those lines.

I don't think you guys are following. The problem is most likely in the editor, Mrtn made the popHeads so they work and look excellent. The problem is Firaxis probably has a limit on the number of heads allowed in the game. According to a tutorial, I would have to add "4 placeholder" heads for each real head I added. This problem was supposed to be fixed in C3C, however.
The problem is that the graphics for say, the Hobbit StoryTeller, look like the Mouth of Sauron.

I'll make thread in C&C later, asking for some help.

The specialists are added in the order they appear in the editor.

Doesn't RaR have umpteen specialists? Perhaps ask them.
Problem solved ;). I downloaded RAR and edited our citizens to fix them.
As far as my testing goes, the problem has been fixed.
Alright, this is the deal now. I'm going to add Aaglo's Hobbit graphics, then send the latest version of the MOD over to Mrtn (assuming he goes along with it). The _main_ thing missing from it is building and wonder graphics. While he is playing the game and searching for problems I'll be adding building graphics. Hopefully I'll be able to add graphics to all "public" type buildings. Civ-specific ones probably won't finish by the time Mrtn is done (I'm assuming he will find other errors, which I'll also be fixing).
After that, you guys will be on your own ;). Remember during the beta not to whine that the game plays badly, but offer how to fix the badness. That's what beta-testing is.
Keep on truckin' :).

I'd be willing to help create some building or wonder graphics that are LOTR specific.

I've got to build some anyways to expand my LOTR cities e.g. I've already built a model of Meduseld, now all I've got to do is color it. Once it is colored, I can add it in to create an Edoras City Graphic, and it would be no problem for me to render as a wonder/building either.

Just give me a list of what you need most, or put some buildings in the MSN site, and I'll just go off from there.

They wouldn't be done probably till after the beta is released, but then we could add them in when we add the other graphics.

I found a site with some building gfx we should be able to snag wholesale. I'll probably start tinkering with it sometime into the beta, or something...
aaglo is making a longbeard dwarf too that should be added when he's finished (in a few minutes, I assume ;)).

Happy Yeaster, everybody. (I figger I can say that until, uh, I dunno, Pentecost?)

I'm pretty much free one week more, incidentally.
Euro Easter holidays rule, eh? Thing is, a holiday for me means "more working on the thesis than usual." :(

I hope Noldodan noticed the wink in that comment!

aaglo made a Roman Archer, maybe something for the High line?
Good idea!

You see, people, I'm not entirely useless. :p
No, that honour goes more to me, I t'ink.

Absolutely!

How about space truckin'? Never did figger out what that meant. I even have a death metal version of the song. Not that I'm listening to it whilst I'm truckin along. That would be the Stone Roses.

Suppertime.

Does anyone know of some gfx that are needed?
I won't add them to the beta (you probably won't finish in time), but you are welcome to configure these, if you want. Do not waste your time making them civ specific yet except with the walls.
Palace
Smithy
Ferry
Fishery (Use ukas ancient harbor gfx)
Archives
Altar
Civ-specific: Walls
Keep
Trading Port (already using Mrtn's Med harbor, check the AoK gfx)
Citadel

The rest are wonders, which is a different story ;).

The Orthodox Easter is at the end of April, IIRC.
Since my mother is the religious one in the family, and she is Greek (Orthodox), I know the answer to the comment you made. I'll be celebrating Easter on May 1st, although Palm Sunday and Holy Friday are in April (24th and 29th). Normally Easter is at the end of April, but the cycle just so happens to end up on May 1st this year.

Head down to the OT and check the "Avatar Switch" thread, and everything shall be explained.
And here I thought you got a sex change ;).

Hey kids,

CivArmy is re-doing his Comanthir leaderhead here. If memory serves, we decided against using his original Comanthir leaderhead, but that doesn't mean we might have a vested interest in commenting on the version he's redoing. That said, I haven't got any comments for the new head, because my brain is fried and isn't up to the task -- if indeed there is one.

Cheerio,

Misty Dan
