Middle-Earth: Lord of the Mods (Private Beta I)

Yup, waiting on Anno Domini (which I am also beta testing and is very, very close) to come out and plug a few holes we have. I foresee one or two more private beta tests and then it will go public.

Isengard will be quite a unique experience and we are ironing out how to give them only a small amount of very powerful cities. We also need to finalize how the nazgul will be incorporated into Mordor.

These two issues will require testing, other than that, the rest is simply filling in the blanks in unit lines and pedia entries.

I have been lurking about for a while now, deperately hoping this mod is not dead... would seem a real shame after so much effort, really. :sad: Has it been abandoned due to Civ 4? :gripe:
Will we ever see an excellent Civ3 Lord of the Rings mod? Thanks for all your work, guys!

Nope, definitely not dead... working hard as a matter of fact and we just came out with a new Beta Version for the private testing. Literally over 90% complete.
 
I just have one question. Anno Domini mod has a bunch of new, cool units, made by the modmaker R8XFT, and they are not released for dl- separatly. Not in the library, nowhere. So I was wondering, did you guys do the same? Is it going to have new units to surprise us all? Tnx
 
Some of the dwarf and hobbit units haven't been released separately, but then we're not sure yet which of them will end up in the mod, and which won't. And no, those are not out of the ordinary, just shrunken versions of older units.
 
Asides from some resized units, all units specifically created for this mod have been released (hopefully we will have a few more made).

We are currently experimenting with a way to incorporate the nazgul as non-regicide, upgradable kings. Isengard requires some further playtestying as this will be a completely unique civ in which it will be limited to only a handful of uber-cities... at least until their war machine starts kicking. After these play issues are refined we will simply be plugging the holes.
 
Actually, what I meant by that was, (since I just recently found out about this mod) that I hope you guys can give us info regarding releases and/or open beta phases :)

Ahh, Nazgul would be fun...though i've always leaned toward the good side.

Usually, i'd go for Rohan, but the concept of a few high power cities compared to a swarm of smaller ones, I like this idea, its one of the main things where I think Civ4 improves on Civ3. But I miss my framerate..Civ4 runs as good as I can expect it to, but it'll never get the speed of Civ3, because of it's engine.
 
Alright, now I AM getting suspicious of the vast temptation that is Civ4 sabotaging your LOTR mod... :hmm:

5 weeks since the last post and narry a peep... :shakehead Should I abandon hope of all that exhaustive work ever coming to fruition? Seems a grand shame, is all.

- Sceptre of Annuminas has palette problems.
